Community Highlights: Meet Alexandria Phillips of QWNTM Leap physical therapy

Today we’d like to introduce you to Alexandria Phillips.

Hi Alexandria, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstories.
So, I moved to Nashville and began a job with a large physical therapy company. Although it was an amazing learning experience, I knew I wanted more! It’s very difficult to move up in the physical therapy world. From day one, I have had difficulty sitting still. I am not the type of person to set an alarm for just enough time to wake up, get ready, do only what is necessary at work, and then finish my day in front of the TV. (Let it be known that I wish I could do this and I envy those who can turn their mind off at night. It’s something I’m working on.!)

After a little over a year with this corporate company, I decided it was time to make moves. I reached out to a few people who had started their own clinic. This included other physical therapists, chiropractors, and other health care providers. I would start off the very invasive Facebook message or email with, “I was wondering if I could pick your brain on a few things!” I was later informed that this was a major red flag, and probably why no one responded 🙂

However, one day I got a message from a guy who was expanding his clinic! So of course, I pulled my best red flag message together and somehow got a bite. We met for coffee and really hit it off. Fast forward a few months, and I’m helping expand his clinic.

Now, need I remind anyone… I can’t sit still. I still had a nagging feeling in my stomach telling me I could do more. I felt like I had two different voices in my head. One telling me, “Come on, Alex. If other people can start their own clinic, so can you.” Five seconds later the next voice barges in saying, “you have a great gig here. Don’t mess up a good thing.”

Thankfully, the clientele at this job consisted of multiple business owners. What really encouraged me to start my own clinic was the support of a few clients. They gave me advice, offered help, and helped me come up with a plan. They were very encouraging and most certainly gave me the confidence boost I needed.

I recently started my own clinic a few months ago! While there have been plenty of anxiety-driven days, I have never been happier and officially feel like any limit I have previously had has been lifted.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle-free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
I 100% know I could not have made this decision on my own. It’s very difficult being a young female business owner. I can’t tell you how many people’s advice was slightly less than positive. A few of the comments included: “Just remember, it’s not all it is cracked up to be.” “it’s a lot of work and sleepless nights.” “Are you sure you’re ready? It’ll change your life.” “I had to completely change my life for my business, are you sure you’re prepared for this? You’re so young.”

Although I know everyone was just looking out for me, and I really appreciate it, those who were encouraging are the ones who kept me going. I know my clinic has only been open few months, but to this day I have plenty of people who give me the positive reminders I need.

Unfortunately, I’m an overthinker, so these negative comments have a constant home in my brain, but those who have been encouraging keep me motivated, even on the days I hit a wall!

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about QWNTM Leap physical therapy?
QWNTM Leap Physical Therapy or QLPT is a physical therapy practice in Franklin, TN. I have my doctorate in physical therapy and I am Master of Dry Needling certified. I also specialize in golf being TPI medical level 2 certified.

QL PT is set apart from other clinics by offering a white-glove service. I am out of network. Many people do not know that you do not have to have a doctor’s script for physical therapy, so I can be contacted and utilized WITHOUT a doctor’s note. With that being said, I also pride myself in my relationships with other healthcare providers in the middle TN area. I want every client to have the same networks I have. If they need a medical doctor, I can refer them to a trusted one, if they need a chiropractor, massage therapist, or other types of specialized care, I want to be the one they trust to ask!

I also only treat 1-on-1. Each client walks into my office with the understanding that they have my full attention. I will address the whole body. I find the source of the pain versus dealing with the temporary problem.

One other thing that sets me apart from a typical physical therapist, is I believe in loading the body. I take all of my clients into the weight room. Ultimately, all of the manual therapy in the world can make you feel great, but the real change comes in building strength!

I am very passionate about my healthcare model. I think that in today’s society, especially in middle TN, people are making major investments in their financial lives, work lives, and personal lives. People move to Nashville constantly to invest in their own businesses. However, for some reason, physical health is not considered an investment.

Like mentioned earlier, I work with a lot of business owners. This is a special group of people who will not stop to be the absolute best version of themselves, and I completely understand this feeling. It can be exhausting. I pride myself in making the investment of physical health easier. I do the entire process for my clients; all they have to do is show up.

So, before we go, how can our readers or others connect or collaborate with you? How can they support you?
My clinic has primarily run on “word-of-mouth.” I have a lot of clienteles hear about me from being dry needle certified as well as TPI certified. If anyone is in pain or feeling like it is time to invest in their health and wellness, please feel free to reach out. Spread my website around (which has all of my contact information)!

I love what I do, and I love making new relationships and connections. So even if someone does not have an immediate need for my services, I love when people reach out. You never know how someone may be able to help!
