Today we’d like to introduce you to Allison Rentas Green.

Allison Rentas Green

Allison, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Helping others has always been a passion of mine. Prior to going to college, I would say I wish I could be a professional volunteer. Realistically, I had to have a career that would still pay the bills. I originally was going to school to become an anesthesiologist though throughout that journey a professor inquired why I was not a social worker. Once I learned about what social workers can do I was hooked. I knew my new goal was to become a licensed clinical social worker. I transferred out of the university I was attending in the Northeast, as it was no longer going to serve its purpose of being able to get into medical school. A childhood friend was stationed at Fort Campbell, KY and encouraged me to look at schools in Tennessee and I landed at Austin Peay State University (It also helped me get away from some of the harsh winters).

During my time at Austin Peay, my passion for helping others did not stop. I volunteered my time with the Office of Disability Services where I was a note taker for my classmates. I enjoyed that Austin Peay had non-tradition students as it opened up additional diversity and had connection with the military population. I enjoyed learning about the unique community the military population is and wanted to focus on helping service members and their families. I completed both of my internships with military and veteran populations with the goal of gaining employment with the VA.

Upon, graduating with my Masters of Social Work, I returned home to the tristate area. I was employed as a Holocaust Survivor Guardianship Social Worker in NYC. I was able to utilize my trauma-informed skills daily with the Holocaust survivors. I was extended an offer to work for the VA prior to COVID starting. I made the transition back to Tennessee during the first COVID outbreak. I was serving Veterans who were hospitalized at the VA. During this employment, I was obtaining supervision to be eligible to test for my LCSW. I worked in acute medicine and was trained in the ER, hospice/ palliative care, ICU and neurology. I also served as the Social Work Education Coordinator and assisted onboarding social work interns for the VA. I enjoy giving back to social work and still take social work interns when able. I transitioned into an acute psychiatry role prior to transitioning into a primary care social work role within the VA. Shortly after transitioning to primary care I was eligible to test for my LCSW.

One of the things I enjoy about social work is the need for life long learning. We need to maintain continuing education credits to keep our license current. Colleagues and students would reach out for collaboration prompting continuous growth. A previous health professional trainee of mine encouraged me to take the leap into private practice. To utilize my skills, authentic connection and ability to assist others but on my own terms.

The Green Collective, PLLC came to fruition after working behind the scenes on maternity leave. The Green Collective houses the separate, individual businesses that I work within. Green & Grounded is the mental health private practice where I can provide individual therapy for those facing depression, anxiety, reproductive mental health or active duty/ veteran issues. Green Advisory is the space where I can give back to social work and provide clinical supervision, case consultation, education and non-clinical consultation for peers or the community. Green Notary allows me to provide notary services and officiant services within Tennessee guidelines. I believe all these services are interconnected within a person’s life and look forward to providing a space where they can be achieved in one place.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It has not been a smooth road to get to opening up multiple businesses. Finally, when I was ready to take the leap into opening up the most recent government shutdown occurred. It was taking awhile for the IRS to process applications and produce EINs. It was a slow down not so much a setback. A lot of getting to opening up has been about remaining flexible, even with the timelines and goals I have set for myself and the businesses.

January is the season of new beginnings. Though that also means insurance deductibles start over, additional expenses, etc. also arise for most people. Getting credentialed with insurance panels take time, at least 45 days. That is the spot that I am in now. The waiting phase. At the time of this interview, I have not had a single client. However, for clarification, I have only been open two weeks at this time. I plan to keep showing up consistently, networking and of course, asking for assistance if needed. Part of growing is knowing when to seek help as others have walked these paths before.

As you know, we’re big fans of The Green Collective, PLLC/ Green & Grounded/ Green Advisory/ Green Notary. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
The Green Collective, PLLC is s a modern wellness and professional services brand that believes healing, clarity, and support should be accessible and interconnected. We offer therapy, consulting and notary services under one roof–because your mental, emotional and administrative clarity all matter. The services provided are all separate business entities that are not dependent upon one another.

Green & Grounded is the mental health practice within The Green Collective. I provide individual therapy in person in Middle Tennessee at the Bonafide Wellness Collective or via telehealth to those located in Tennessee. My approach is collaborative and empowering. Together, we’ll focus on your strengths, your goals, and what truly matters to you. Whether you’re managing stress, adjusting to change, or working through deeper personal struggles, I’m here to walk alongside you with empathy, honesty, and practical support. I believe in creating a grounded, supportive space where you feel heard, understood, and genuinely cared for. I’ve spent my career serving Veterans, older adults, and individuals navigating medical, emotional, and major life challenges—and I bring that same compassion, steadiness, and real-life understanding into my private practice. I also offer Walk & Talk therapy, an approach helpful for reducing anxiety, increasing openness, and improving emotional regulation. Walk & Talk sessions take place in safe, agreed-upon locations and are weather-permitting.

At Green Advisory, I offer clinical supervision, case consultation, and general professional consultation designed to help you grow with confidence, clarity, and purpose. My approach is collaborative, encouraging, and grounded in real-world experience. Together, we’ll explore challenging cases, strengthen your clinical judgment, and deepen the skills that make you an effective and compassionate provider. This is a space to ask questions, gain insight, and develop professionally without judgment—just practical guidance. General consultation provides educational and advisory support to help individuals understand options, systems, or next steps. This service is not therapy, does not include diagnosis or treatment, and does not establish a therapist-client relationship. Let’s build your confidence, expand your expertise, and elevate your practice—one meaningful conversation at a time.

At Green Notary, I provide notarization for documents including Power of Attorney forms, affidavits, acknowledgments, and sworn statements. We also offer mobile notary appointments in Middle Tennessee, witness services (when available), and officiant services for weddings in Tennessee. This is a non-clinical service, however, you will still be met with the same compassion, warmness and intentionality.

I am most proud of bringing a holistic approach to much needed services in our community. Social workers wear many hats and can be wealths of knowledge. Having a space to bring it altogether, provide genuinely and give back is what means the most to me.

Can you talk to us a bit about the role of luck?
I think the role of luck has played a part in my life and business. I have been fortunate and lucky to have amazing family, friends and colleagues that have encouraged me to continue to reach my full potential. Their trust and faith in me is powerful to pursue the perceived unknown. Taking a chance on yourself can be intimidating. I would even say being contacted to participate in an interview so early on is lucky in itself. It provides an opportunity to showcase who I am and what my businesses can bring to Clarksville and the surrounding communities.
