Community Highlights: Meet Cheryl Brown of Williamson County Republican Party

Today we’d like to introduce you to Cheryl Brown.

Hi Cheryl, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstories with our readers.
I grew up in Birmingham, AL. While in college, I worked for the Boy Scouts of America. My manager was a black woman named Minnie. She was a Christian who led me to Christ and to the Republican Party.

When she said Reagan was the best President ever, that was it for me; I voted Republican for the first time, and I never looked back. I moved to Franklin in November 1999 with my husband and three kids.

In 2012, I started attending the Williamson County Republican Women’s Club and participated in various Republican events. In 2019, the Republican Party of Williamson County had its reorganization. I was elected as the First Vice Chairman, and six months later, the Chairman resigned, and I was appointed as Chairman.

Then CV-19 happened, but we were still able to raise over $100,000 during the pandemic and was the top producing county Party in TN. In 2021, I was elected as Chairman of the Williamson County Republican Party as of today we have raised over $200,000 to support our local Republican candidates. I am honored to serve my community and the Republican Party.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It’s been a little rough. When people are set in their ways and are familiar with their way of doing things. When an outsider comes in to change their familiarity, it can sometimes lead to indifference.

As Reagan says, “I always believed that a lot of the trouble in the world would disappear if we were talking to each other instead of about each other.”

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Williamson County Republican Party?
We exist to facilitate events and dialogue among Republicans across Middle Tennessee.

We stand proudly with the national GOP in its mission to limit government and preserve individual liberty, free markets, traditional values, and a strong national defense.

We are proud to support our local and state/federal Republican candidates.

What do you think about luck?
I believe in Grace, not luck. God’s grace that is, by God’s grace we are saved, and his mercy is new every morning!
