Today we’d like to introduce you to Christopher Armantrout.
Christopher, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Graduated from College, took a job in Seoul Korea. Moved back to the States taking a job in publishing for 5 years – living in Charlotte, Sacramento, Boise, Boston, and then moving back to Nashville in 2015. Worked for a mortgage company for 3.5 years. Went on an epic personal development trip (GRC). Came back, quit my job. Started a new company and have been rocking it at Valor Mortgage, LLC for the past 6 years. My company name stems from wanting to be bold, brave and honest in my business – as well as the mighty men that went to war with Gideon- “and his mighty men of valor”. I moonlight as a disaster response ‘logistics coordinator / Company Treasurer’ for Gideon Rescue Company based out of Oklahoma.
I met my wife in Arizona, and we have been married for the past 2.5 years. We just had our first new born 1 month ago and are excited to see our little one grow. Hollywood has nothing on how God wrote our story – covering over 100,000 miles between the west and east coast over about a year period.
Mortgages are a way to serve people and be in the community, all while feeding the ones I love.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Nope. I quit my first mortgage job just after I had bought & financed my first house, not knowing where my next paycheck was coming from. Have had months with $10.00 in my bank account and struggled to find ways to make payroll and pay my own bills. Having God and my wife has been a big blessing through these struggling times.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
What makes my company unique is the level of control and clarity we give our clients throughout the process. Instead of working with multiple people and dealing with constant unknowns, you’ll work with just one person and a dedicated processor.
This focus on simplicity and personal service allows us to get you a faster approval. For example, our clients often find they are in a position to give a stronger offer and dictate the closing timeline, rather than being rushed by a long or complicated process. We try to put our buyers in the position of waiting on the sellers rather then the other way around.
Beyond that, we also have solutions for unique situations. We have helped many clients who were turned down by a larger bank secure a loan because of our wider range of loan products, including options for self-employed borrowers or down payment assistance programs. We take pride in finding the right solution and making the entire journey as simple and stress-free as possible.
Networking and finding a mentor can have such a positive impact on one’s life and career. Any advice?
I think having a mentor is an excellent thing! I would suggest finding a few in different industries to have perspectives other than those in your own industry / silo to avoid having ‘tunnel vision’.
