Community Highlights: Meet Christopher Jordan of LULOSOUNDROOM LLC

Today we’d like to introduce you to Christopher Jordan.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
Well it started for me in I think the same way it begins for a lot of dj aficionados – watching a lot of djs play. In my case it was the dj at my own sisters quince.

I bothered the dj for lessons and after 3 or four lessons I really was one completely hooked and enjoy in discovering the endless posible blends.

Ever since November of 2008 I’ve been completely hooked / practicing daily – making music daily. It’s been a complete devotion to making the sounds I hear in music that I like. Since 2018 I’ve released eps with a plethora of labels and now – both digital and vinyl. I have played in places I’ve never thought I would (funk club Mexico City, T bag records in Miami, Mad Radio miami, ATM Chicago, Salon Daome (MTL) ) and after being part of a successful local dj group we are boldly going forward with a club. LULOSOUNDROOM. A project born out of the years I’ve cut my teeth as a dj / growing a international attention to Nashville for rare djs and bookings and the connection I have had with the local djs who are passionate about the same thing. Records and the music enjoyed in a safe rave environment. There is so much more to come from the LULO space in the coming year. Most recently a new record label: ROOTS. Our first compilation album is out now and half of all proceeds are being donated to Conexion Americas.

With out the years of hard working making music and cultivating my skills and resume – throwing parties with and learning from friends like Sterbo, Volast, lapilli and many others in the local community as well as attending tons of others and playing a lot in town we wouldn’t be now in a phase of giving back to the community.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
The road has been smooth, bumpy and all together not there at times.

In this world of music we operate in there are no guarantees and there are tons of egos, bad friends and folks committed to misunderstanding.

The trick is to recognize this and only invest time in rooms and people who treat each other as the same and challenge each other to grow and improve. There is a world out there full of people with love and positivity to offer and I am now tailoring my experience to be filled with that kind of energy.

Also to learn not to put yourself in those situation and return to face the music with confidence and intention.

We’ve been impressed with LULOSOUNDROOM LLC, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Lulosoundroom is more than just a “nightclub”. It’s a center for culture – connection and community. Yes our main activity is dancing the night away but our intention is to curate and cultivate a community with the potential to grow more producers and dedicated vinyl / digger DJs and fanatics of music. A community that also is completely fluid – non judgemental space where creativity and positivity is what reigns supreme.

Our goal is to go beyond just offering a night club – but a place to gather for discussions, album listening events, healing activities, art, charity driven events, dj lessons, producer workshops, podcasts, dj sets, a daily hang out and a community of likeminded individuals.

We will soon be launching our merch line and have just launched our compilation label ROOTS.

What makes you happy?
What makes me happiest is being able to track growth and improvement really.

Seeing with times things improve or learn that things need to improve and enjoying the fruits of this labor makes me very happy.

So do records, producing music and ice cream!
