Hi Cortina, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I was born and raised in Brooklyn, NY, where my passion for business and financial management began at an early age. My father owned a construction company in Brooklyn, and as a high school student, I became the unofficial office manager and bookkeeper. I balanced checkbooks, paid invoices, and gained firsthand experience in managing a small business. Those formative years taught me the importance of structure, accountability, and the value of “building better businesses”, a passion that has stayed with me ever since.
Although I loved Brooklyn, while attending Fisk University I fell in love with Nashville and decided to make it my home. Over the years, I’ve built a career helping individuals and organizations navigate the complexities of compliance, bookkeeping, and financial management. My company, Hosch Group LLC, is named after my maiden name, a tribute to where my journey began. Initially a research firm specializing in business feasibility studies and plans, the business evolved to address the gaps I observed in compliance, tax, and financial literacy.
Today, Hosch Group LLC serves a diverse range of clients, from nonprofits to trucking businesses, musicians, and small to midsize construction companies. I specialize in helping businesses stay on track with federal, state, and local regulations while also managing their financial health. My mission has always been to “build better businesses,” empowering clients to focus on their passions while I handle the technicalities.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It certainly hasn’t been a completely smooth road. One of the most challenging times was when I chose to pause my business to focus on raising my children. It wasn’t an easy decision to put my passion on hold, but I knew it was the right one for my family. Those years taught me a lot about sacrifice, patience, and resilience. While I wouldn’t change that decision, stepping away and then rebuilding my business later came with its own set of challenges. Thankfully, my children are great adults now, and I’m incredibly proud of the people they’ve become.
Re-entering the entrepreneurial world meant catching up with changes in the industry and finding my footing again, all while balancing my 9-to-5 career, which I genuinely enjoy. It’s a constant juggling act, but through it all, one thing has remained unwavering: my commitment to my clients. No matter how complex a situation might be, we navigate those challenges to ensure a seamless experience for them. We take pride in handling the hard parts so our clients can focus on what they do best.
Those experiences have not only shaped me as a business owner but have also deepened my understanding of perseverance. Every challenge has made me more determined to succeed and more committed to helping others build better businesses.

The next 5–10 years will bring exciting changes to the business compliance, bookkeeping, and tax advisory industries. I see a growing trend toward user-friendly, cloud-based tools that simplify tasks and save time.
For example, bookkeeping software is becoming smarter, capable of organizing expenses, generating reports, and even identifying potential issues before they arise. Tax preparation is also becoming more streamlined, with advanced tools handling repetitive tasks. This shift allows professionals like me to focus more on providing strategic advice and personalized guidance to help clients achieve their goals.
Another key trend is the increasing importance of data security and privacy. As businesses rely more on digital tools, protecting sensitive information and staying compliant with new regulations will become even more critical. My experience working in cybersecurity and data security with a focus on compliance and creating clear processes has prepared me to help clients navigate these challenges confidently.
