Today we’d like to introduce you to Daisha Sanders.
Hi Daisha, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?Thank you for having me. I started Kids as Creatives as a YouTube channel doing arts and crafts videos with a few kids from my community. From there, I transitioned to hosting arts and crafts events in the park for the kids. Experiencing the interest and joy the kids showed while participating in the Youtube videos and park events fueled my desire to expand. In December of 2021, I purchased a shuttle bus that I renovated into a mobile arts and crafts studio. I was really hands on with the renovation process. My grandfather and I tackled the whole demolition and early renovation phases. To finish off the project, I hired Caleb Nelson (@backroadpurpose on Instagram) to help me take the bus renovation to the next level with a modern aesthetic, running water and electricity. Now that the project is complete, I host birthday parties and other events inside the mobile studio.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
I’ve encountered a number of challenges getting Kids as Creatives going, but I’ve learned so much along the way. I think it’s important to touch on my journey into motherhood when I talk about my business because my daughter has been a huge driving force to not only get started, but to keep going! I was pregnant with her when I started my Kids as Creatives YouTube channel. Around the time I made the leap to buy the bus, I was fired from my full time job. I was jobless with a 6 month old baby so you can only imagine how that challenged my faith to start my own business. I hope being transparent about my journey will inspire other mothers to pursue the things they want to.
We’ve been impressed with Kids as Creatives, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Kids as Creatives provides child entertainment in Middle Tennessee, offering arts and crafts experiences for birthday parties and other special events. With our mobile arts and crafts studio, we bring the fun to you and take the mess with us. Our climate-controlled mobile studio seats up to 12 kids at a time and caters to all ages with a variety of package options to choose from. The Super Slime Time and Painting Pow Wow packages are currently our most popular party offerings. We pride ourselves in making a memorable experience for our clients. As the owner, I am most proud of creating a unique and safe space for kids to explore their creativity.
We’d love to hear about any fond memories you have from when you were growing up.
My favorite childhood memory is spending time at my grandmother’s house. She really molded me into the creative I am today. We spent a lot of time doing arts and crafts projects and other hands-on activities. My most memorable craft I made with her was a suncatcher I painted. She kept it hanging up in her vehicle for years!
