Community Highlights: Meet Daniel Shaw of Shaylin Media

Today we’d like to introduce you to Daniel Shaw.

Hi Daniel, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
When I was living in the Nashville area during the early days of Covid in 2020, I went to get coffee from a friend’s coffee shop in the Music Valley Village area. The door was locked which was a shock to me. I called my friend, and he explained that Metro Nashville told them they had to close to the public inside the shop but could bring orders to your car. This was the start of me creating 615 LIFE that later morphed into 615 LOCAL. Instead of getting all political about what was going on, I just created a few social media accounts to get the word out. I felt that we really need to support local businesses right now, more than ever before, or we will lose many of our favorite local places. As others saw what I was doing they would ask me for help to promote their business and I did as long as they were locally owned and within the 615-area code map.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
This didn’t happen overnight. It’s the result of years spent in the trenches, figuring out what works (and what definitely doesn’t). I didn’t want to just talk about building a company—I wanted to roll up my sleeves and actually do it.
For a while, I was a live music promoter. Sounds glamorous, right? Spoiler alert: it’s mostly juggling venue owners, scheduling nightmares, marketing chaos, media demands, and egos the size of tour buses. The audience never sees the behind-the-scenes madness, but when you watch them having the time of their lives, you feel that pride.
The hardest part? Doing all this while working a full-time career. Sleep became a rumor I heard about from other people. And then there’s the art of spotting who’s blowing smoke versus who actually delivers—pro tip: cut the smoke-blowers fast.

Oh, and one last golden rule: Never feel you got it all figured out, trust me you don’t.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
At Shaylin Media, we believe that every brand has a story worth telling—and we’re here to make sure it’s told in a way that connects, inspires, and drives results. We are a full-service marketing and media agency dedicated to helping businesses stand out in a crowded marketplace through creative strategies, compelling content, and authentic engagement.

Our expertise spans digital marketing, social media management, branding, and live event promotion, giving us the tools to elevate your business and amplify your message. Whether you’re a local startup or an established brand, we craft solutions that fit your unique goals and vision.

Do you have any advice for those just starting out?
Here’s the advice I give every new entrepreneur I meet: move the ball forward every single day. Even if it’s just a baby step—heck, some days it might feel like you’re crawling—but progress is progress. Some days you’ll crush it and wonder if the work will ever end, and other days your big win might be posting something meaningful on social media and then taking the rest of the day off to recharge. Both count.

What I love most? Helping entrepreneurs build their brand and start on a solid foundation. Over the years, I’ve learned a ton from multiple startups, but the biggest lesson? Never stop. Breaks are okay—sometimes necessary—but even during those breaks, listen to that inner voice reminding you why you started and what you’re meant to give this world.
I work with insanely talented musicians, chefs , and business pros who have gifts that deserve the spotlight. My job—and my team’s job—is to use our skills to help them grow their business and make it thrive. Because when they win, we all win.
