Today we’d like to introduce you to Dr. Audra Lance.
Hi Dr. Lance, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself
When I was living in Chicago, I visited Nashville to attend a seminar. I immediately fell in love with the energy of the city and people, and I knew this was the place for me. I knew this is where I wanted to build my life and my practice after graduating. And it doesn’t hurt that I happen to love country music
As I began researching the area and continued to visit, I saw there was an opportunity for my particular skill set and area of expertise. There was a need for more doctors who specialize in sports and non-surgical injuries, and I felt like I could make a difference with these patients in this community. I made the move, opened a practice in Brentwood and have never looked back.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I feel very fortunate that I was accepted with open arms when I moved to Nashville. Spine and Sport Rehabilitation Institute grew quickly, mostly due to word of mouth. Seeing patients get healthy and feel good really fueled my passion to continue to learn, research and bring innovative techniques to my practice. The doctor part of what I do came naturally, and it was incredibly rewarding.
Managing a business was something that I had to learn. Because we did grow so quickly, I had to shift some of my focus to planning, hiring and training. This practice is my passion, and I care deeply about my patients. Balancing growing the practice so we can help more people more often without losing the quality of care we’re known for is my priority. There’s a certain level of expertise that we require, so it’s important that we grow in the correct way that’s best for our patients. It’s the same challenge any business faces with significant growth—how do we continue to expand and allow more and more people to benefit from our product while maintaining the high-quality level of the care we provide. That has been my number one challenge, but I’m happy with the balance we’re striking.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Spine & Sport Rehabilitation Institute?
Spine and Sport Rehabilitation Institute provides concierge chiropractic care and a personalized and results-oriented approach for all of our patients. We treat the root cause of pain, not just the symptoms. My ultimate goal is for patients to feel the best version of themselves so that they can excel in their profession or hobby, or just enjoy life.
We are mainly known for our work within the sports community. Spine and Sport Rehabilitation Institute is a Team USA partner and we treat professional musicians and athletes from the MLB, NFL and NHL including Pro Bowlers and All Pro Performers, All Stars, All Americans, Heisman trophy winners, Cy Young Award winners, Super Bowl and World Series champions, Grammy and CMA Award winners, among many others. However, everyone we treat gets the same quality of care. We see a lot of marathon runners and triathletes looking to set a PR, but we also work with expecting mothers who are dealing with pregnancy and postpartum issues and people who suffer from chronic pain, headaches or injuries. It all comes down to working with the individual patient and understanding what their goals are. Then, we tailor a specific plan to help them achieve those goals.
I think our approach and level of expertise is what sets us apart. We listen to our patients and spend additional time with them to understand the true core of the issue. You can’t get to the root of the problem if you don’t listen. The second part is treating the issue. We are constantly learning, and we pride ourselves for bringing the latest cutting-edge techniques and the highest quality of care to our patients through our specialized certifications and training.
