Community Highlights: Meet Dr. Keisha Bean of Harmonious Living Behavioral Health Services, LLC

Today we’d like to introduce you to Dr. Keisha Bean.

Hi Dr. Keisha, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Dr. Keisha Bean began her academic journey at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga, where she earned her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology. Unsure at first of which direction to take her degree, she was inspired by a mentor who encouraged her to pursue advanced education to expand her impact in the mental health field. That guidance led her to Tennessee State University, where she completed both her Master’s and Doctorate degrees in Psychology.

Following graduation, Dr. Bean completed her internship at the University of Cincinnati Counseling Center and her Postdoctoral training at Vanderbilt University’s Community Mental Health Center. These experiences were instrumental in shaping her vision for providing accessible, compassionate, and effective mental health services to those in need.

Over the years, Dr. Bean has dedicated her career to community mental health, working with populations that have historically faced barriers to accessing care. She has delivered presentations, trainings, and consultations on a wide range of mental health topics for businesses, universities, and organizations across the region. Her professional path has also included several years of service with the Department of Corrections, where she provided clinical oversight and support within correctional facilities.

Today, Dr. Bean is the Founder and Clinical Director of Harmonious Living Behavioral Health Services, LLC, a practice devoted to meeting the diverse mental health needs of individuals and communities. She is deeply passionate about breaking the stigma surrounding mental health, ensuring that it becomes a topic openly discussed, understood, and prioritized. Her work continues to focus on empowerment, education, and advocacy, reflecting her lifelong commitment to mental health wellness for all

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has certainly not been a smooth road. The journey has included many bumps along the way—especially when it came to opening my own practice. There was so much to learn about both the business side of managing a practice and maintaining a healthy work/life balance. When working closely with individuals facing mental health challenges, it becomes even more essential to prioritize your own well-being. Every learning curve, challenge, and obstacle, however, has been worth it. I have no regrets—only gratitude for the growth that came with the process.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Harmonious Living Behavioral Health Services, LLC?
I am the Founder and Director of Harmonious Living Behavioral Health Services, LLC, located in the Metro Center area—just eight minutes from downtown Nashville. Our practice is built on the foundation of compassion, professionalism, and a commitment to providing exceptional mental health care for individuals, couples, and families.

Our clinical team currently includes three dedicated therapists in addition to myself. I work with adolescents, adults, and couples, with a particular focus on anxiety, couples counseling, and family systems. Sessions are available both in-office and via Telehealth to meet the diverse needs of our clients.

Mr. Adrian Bennett provides Telehealth-only sessions and specializes in working with adolescents, adults, men’s issues, and couples.

Mrs. Raline Center offers Telehealth-only services with notable expertise in children, adults, and neurodiverse populations.

Ms. Mary Ann Hea provides in-office sessions and has extensive experience working with individuals involved in the legal system, as well as those who have experienced trauma and loss.

At Harmonious Living, we take great pride in the care, professionalism, and integrity that define our work. Our goal is to meet the clinical and emotional needs of every client with compassion and evidence-based support. We are also excited to be expanding our services to include psychological evaluations and testing, further enhancing the range of support we provide to our community.

In terms of your work and the industry, what are some of the changes you are expecting to see over the next five to ten years?
I believe the mental health industry and its available resources will continue to expand. In today’s age of social media, I anticipate that mental health needs will be addressed in more innovative and creative ways beyond traditional talk therapy. The marketing and accessibility of services are reaching audiences who historically may not have had access to this information. One particularly promising trend is the increased reach of mental health education to younger populations, many of whom are facing a range of emotional and psychological challenges. However, I hope to see continued growth in funding for mental health services, as greater financial support would significantly enhance the resources and outlets currently available—especially within community mental health settings.
