Community Highlights: Meet Dr. Krysten A. Jacobs of Broadway Chiropractic & Wellness

Today we’d like to introduce you to Dr. Krysten A. Jacobs.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
My husband and I met while we were attending graduate school at New York Chiropractic College in upstate NY. I am from Canada and he is from Maryland, so when we graduated, we relocated to Maryland to start our careers as Chiropractic Physicians. After we each worked for two offices in Maryland, we decided to fulfill our dream of owning and operating our own practice. We were blessed to each work for a great Doctor in Maryland, both of whom also serve as mentors for us to this day.

We decided to relocate to mid-Tennessee from Maryland to have a better environment for raising our family. We met the previous owner of our practice in November 2019 and started the process of acquiring the practice in early 2020 – but once COVID hit, the deal was prolonged (many banks were not lending because of the pandemic, so securing a SBA loan took longer than anticipated). I also found out I was expecting our first child in March 2020, but this did not hinder us from chasing our dreams of moving to Tennessee to own our own chiropractic practice. During this time, I thankfully was able to continue working at my previous practice, but the office my husband was working for closed during COVID – again, we had faith that we would still be able to make our dreams come to fruition.

We moved to Murfreesboro October 1, 2020. We welcomed our first child into the world on November 4, 2020. We officially closed on the sale of our practice November 23, 2020 (we are a majority female-owned business). Since then, our life has been a whirlwind of taking care of our TWO babies: Luke Benjamin and Broadway Chiropractic. Even though things didn’t go as we intended (we wanted to move to Murfreesboro in May or June 2020, as that is when the close of the practice sale was projected to be), we would not change anything for the world because it is all a part of His plan for us. We are so happy to be part of the Murfreesboro community and deemed an essential service so that we are able to continue helping patients through this time. Yes, COVID is impacting our business, but us and our staff are working tirelessly to continue to help as many people in the community as possible achieve health and wellness, even during this unprecedented time.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
Our journey has definitely not progressed in a linear fashion. Because of the pandemic, we had a lot of obstacles with regards to securing a SBA loan – a lot of banks were not lending at the height of the pandemic.

Before purchasing our current practice, we looked at purchasing about eight others. Only one of those eight we had also pursued seriously and with vigor, but in the end, it was not meant to be. At the time, it was disappointing to come to that realization; however, we had yet to know the great things that were waiting for us in the future in Murfreesboro!

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Broadway Chiropractic & Wellness?
Broadway Chiropractic & Wellness is a chiropractic practice serving Murfreesboro, TN and the surrounding regions of middle TN. We are a majority female-owned family wellness practice and specialize in chiropractic treatment, dry needling, dry hydromassage therapy, athletes, and pediatric and prenatal care. We also offer Spinal Decompression: a non-surgical, non-invasive approach to decrease pain and suffering. This specialized table gently decompresses the spine to decrease pressure on your discs, spinal cord and nerves. There are specific calculations based on your condition to set the parameters for the cycle of a decompression treatment, so your spinal decompression care is specific to you and you alone. Our office offers a fun, upbeat, and positive environment that you can feel as soon as you walk in the door. We pride ourselves on creating and fostering this atmosphere – we love providing that modern-day Barber Shop vibe that our patients love and can’t wait to experience with each visit!

We have state-of-the art technology to provide quality care for all of our patients: DR X-ray unit in-office (DR units emit lower radiation per x-ray taken (compared to Computerized Radiography (CR) systems) and therefore exposes our patients to the LEAST amount of radiation possible); INSight CLA Scans (FDA registered computer technology that is based on NASA research, and are the only chiropractic surface electromyography (SEMG) using NASA technology. INSiGHT CLA Scans are used to objectively measure the activity of nerves and muscles. It provides an accurate visualization for patients to see what the Chiropractic Doctors can feel. It is completely safe for infants and children); and NeuroImpulse Adjustment Tool (FDA regulated, gentle, low-force adjustment tool that can be used on all joints (spine and extremities) and all patients (infants, children, teens, adults, older adults) to relieve pain and restore proper function. The NeuroImpulse has three different force levels to maximize patient comfort. Its waveform technology tunes to the specific frequency of the body to optimize patient results. It is completely safe for infants and children).

Our Chiropractic Physicians have a multitude of certifications to broaden their horizon when it comes to different patient care techniques. We are continually striving to raise the standard of care for the community, and we are on a mission to serve as many people in the community as possible with QUALITY chiropractic care that everyone finds VALUE in. Chiropractic care is more than just getting you out of pain – Pain is the last symptom to show up signaling dysfunction but is the first thing to go away once treatment starts. We help patients become as healthy & functional as possible: this journey extends beyond when pain goes away and is the most important part of stabilizing conditions to help PREVENT future relapses or injuries.

We also love supporting other local small businesses – we have collaborated with a local Young Living essential oils representative who is offering monthly educational classes at our office. We have also partnered with The Peacock Apothecary to be able to provide monthly classes on their homemade & handmade products. We love being part of such a great community and are always striving for ways to serve and support others through chiropractic care and as small business owners. We feel it is especially important during this time to actively and continually find ways to support those other local small businesses.
