Community Highlights: Meet Emily Drew of Emily Drew Love

Today we’d like to introduce you to Emily Drew.

Emily Drew

Hi Emily, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.

For many years now, I’ve been on a path of self-discovery, healing, and awakening. As someone who was medicated for depression from a young age (and who is now medication-free and very happy), I’ve learned a lot about what it takes to feel truly happy and free. This has led me to a deep calling to serve others in this process. This process included many leaps of faith and many hard days and nights. It took me years of uncovering the truth of who I am and I’m still doing it.

As a singer-songwriter music was my only outlet for so long. Songwriting was what gave me my first glimpse of what was happening within me. It got me in touch with deeper aspects of myself and allowed me to express my feelings. In more recent years, however, I’ve done many trainings in somatic energy healing and meditation read countless books, and have discovered what truly creates the most profound shifts in life – love. Hence my business name – is Emily Drew Love.

More specifically it’s about being seen, heard, and loved. We all know on a conceptual level that this is true but it’s much harder in practice. It took me giving this to myself, as well as working with some of the best somatic and energy-aware practitioners in the world, to be able to hold this space for my clients.

Looking back, I am grateful for all that I have been through because I’ve always had the understanding that I cannot help others with something if I have not experienced it and healed it within myself.

For the last 5 years, I have been a nomad, not living anywhere longer than about 6 months. This took a big leap of faith because it meant leaving my jobs behind in Boulder, CO, and stepping into the unknown. It began in Bali for 3 months and then turned into a practice of trusting the flow and going where I feel called. In hindsight, I can see that each place I went to gave me the exact experience I needed for my growth.

This journey also felt like a search for my people, and my community. I’m so happy to have found it here in Nashville.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
As I said much of my journey required a lot of leaps of faith and what they would call “nights of the soul,” A lot of hard looks at myself. Also, not knowing where my next dollar was going to come from. It always came though which was a beautiful lesson.

Again, there are a lot of conceptual ideas floating around in the world of healing, but putting them into practice is NOT easy. I consider it a very brave path. It’s not all sunshine and rainbows.

We’ve been impressed with Emily Drew Love, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
My modality (which is my own) is called Somatic Awakening. I specialize in helping people get to the root of their struggles and patterns. When you do this, change is natural and effortless. There is less willpower needed.

I also help people connect deeper (or reconnect) with their spiritual nature and gifts. I use a blend of energy healing, somatic experiencing, and intuitive reading.

What we don’t realize is that a lot of who we think we are is just patterns and conditioning we have inherited that society has imposed upon us. I help people reconnect with what I call their “true nature.” This is who you are without any imposed limitations or wounding.

I believe many people have become fed up with the way things in society are going and this is leading to an awakening to more truth and what is needed. I’m here to support that in whatever way I can.

Where do you see things going in the next 5-10 years?
As I’ve landed in Nashville, I’m currently building up my practice here and leading workshops and classes. Eventually, I will be doing more retreats, and I’m also hoping to be releasing more music. I’m in the right place for it!
