Hi Emily, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I’ve always had a heart for caring for new families. Since I was a teenager, I’ve loved babysitting and being a second hand to moms. I always left the house cleaner and more organized than I left it because I knew how much parents appreciated those mundane tasks done when they got home (and as a mother now, I totally get it!). Now I’m a Registered Nurse, and for over eight years I’ve worked with moms and babies in the hospital, as well as provided in-home night nursing with a private company. Throughout those years, I kept noticing the same thing over and over—parents spend so much time preparing for birth, but many don’t have the support they need to prepare their homes and everyday routines for life with a newborn.
As a mother/baby nurse, I was constantly answering questions like, “Where should I keep diapers?” “How do I organize all of these baby products?” “What do I actually need?” I realized that “nesting” isn’t just about decorating a nursery—it’s about creating systems that make those exhausting first weeks with a baby feel less overwhelming.
That’s how The Little Nesting Company was born. I wanted to combine my nursing experience with my love for organization to create a service that truly prepares families for life after the hospital. Every project is personalized to each family’s lifestyle and goals. Whether I’m organizing parts of the nursery or an entire home, my mission is the same: to help parents feel calm, confident, and supported before their baby arrives.
Starting this business has been one of the most rewarding things I’ve ever done. I love getting to walk alongside families during such an exciting season of life, and it’s incredibly special knowing that something as simple as an organized drawer or a well-planned feeding station can make those first few months just a little bit easier.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It definitely hasn’t been a perfectly smooth road! Like most small business owners, I’ve had to wear every hat—from creating a website and learning marketing to bookkeeping, networking, and figuring out social media. None of that came naturally to me because my background is nursing, not entrepreneurship.
I also started this business while being a working mom – I have a 6 year old and a 3 year old. As I’m navigating motherhood and providing for my family, it has been challenging to balance my time and energy while learning how to be a business owner. As my girls watch me along this mission, I hope I inspire them to do anything they dream of doing—even when it feels impossible! This journey has also helped me lean into my faith more and trust that God has a perfect plan for The Little Nesting Company. I’ve had to lean into the process, steward what He puts on my heart, and choose joy in the chaos—even when it feels impossible.
One of the biggest challenges has been helping people understand that what I offer is so much more than home organization. There are amazing professional organizers out there, but my service is unique because it’s rooted in maternal and newborn education. I’m not just organizing baby clothes; I’m helping parents think through feeding station setup, diapering routines, postpartum recovery, newborn safety, and how their home will function once baby arrives.
I’ve also learned that building trust takes time. Since this is such a personal service, families invite me into one of the most vulnerable and exciting seasons of their lives. Every client, every referral, and every kind review has helped grow this business, and I’m incredibly grateful for everything that helps this business grow.

The Little Nesting Company is a luxury nesting and newborn preparation service that helps expecting families feel organized, educated, and ready to welcome their baby home.
I work with families before baby arrives to create functional, personalized spaces throughout their home. This includes organizing a nursery, setting up feeding and diapering stations, creating efficient storage systems, assembling baby gear, and preparing the entire home for life with a newborn. I also provide education and resources that come directly from my experience as a mother/baby nurse, helping parents feel more confident as they step into this new chapter.
I think what sets my business apart is the combination of organization and education. My goal isn’t just to make a space look beautiful for pictures—it’s to make it work beautifully for real life. Every recommendation I make is based on years of caring for moms and babies, and I love helping families simplify all the overwhelming decisions that come with preparing for a new baby.
What I’m most proud of is the experience I create for my clients. I want every family to feel seen, supported, and never judged. Every home is different, every family is different, and there isn’t one “right” way to prepare for a baby. I simply come alongside parents, listen to what matters most to them, and create systems that fit their lives. At the end of the day, I want people to know that they don’t have to do it all alone. Preparing for a baby can feel overwhelming, but with a little guidance and support, it can also be an exciting and joyful experience.
Who else deserves credit in your story?
First and foremost, my family has been my biggest source of support and encouragement. My mom instilled in me from a young age how much organization and functionality can make a difference in everyday life, and my dad, who is a franchise owner himself, gave me the confidence and business knowledge to take the leap and start my own company. Starting a business can feel overwhelming, but they’ve believed in this dream from the very beginning. My husband and in-laws have been incredible as well helping care for our girls, cooking countless meals, and cheering me on through every high and low.
My sister’s first birth and postpartum experience was actually the turning point that made me realize this nesting business could truly make an impact. She had just moved into a new house a few weeks before she delivered, so very little had been set up for the baby. While she was in the hospital, her doula (shout out to Ashley Mehta!) and I spent the day cleaning, organizing, and preparing her home so that when she came home, all she had to focus on was healing and being a mom. The heart behind The Little Nesting Company was born while I was snuggling my brand-new nephew, and I’ll always think that’s such a special beginning.
I’m also incredibly grateful for the mentors and fellow business owners who have been generous with their time, advice, and encouragement. Whether it’s sharing marketing advice, making introductions, answering my endless questions, or simply believing in what I’m building, those relationships have been invaluable.
