Today we’d like to introduce you to Evelyn Garcia B.
Hi Evelyn, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
My journey began with the incredible fortune of being born in Lima- Peru, a city rich in culture, tradition, and world-renowned gastronomy. Growing up in such a vibrant environment, I developed a deep appreciation for our cuisine, especially our unique pastries. I pursued a career as a teacher, and over time, I also became passionate about dance—particularly Peruvian folklore—and baking.
When my children were born, I wanted to make their birthdays extra special, so I took it upon myself to create every detail, including the desserts. This led me to enroll in pastry chef classes, which sparked a love for baking that I never expected.
Fast forward to three years ago when I moved to Georgia, and I found myself really missing the flavors of home—our desserts, the ingredients, and the sense of connection to my Peruvian roots. It was then that my best friend from college and I decided to start a Peruvian pastry business. The response was overwhelming! People loved trying our authentic desserts and learning about the nutritional value and cultural significance of Peruvian ingredients, especially how they’re integral to our national holidays and traditions.
Not long after, I relocated to Murfreesboro, where I continue teaching and even started a Peruvian folklore dance group. It was also the perfect time to relaunch my baking business under the name Lima Love Bakery. Now, I’m thrilled to share a taste of Peru with my new community while keeping my passion for culture, teaching, and baking alive.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Starting from scratch as an adult was incredibly challenging. Migrating to a new country meant leaving behind my family, my job, my friends, and my roots. It was undoubtedly one of the biggest challenges I’ve ever faced. The first hurdle was improving the language—being able to communicate fluently in English was crucial to navigating this new chapter in my life. My husband’s support played a key role in helping me through this transition.
Another significant challenge was learning how to start and manage a business. I had to educate myself on the right steps to take and connect with the right people. Luckily, I found Ella a wonderful support group for Latina entrepreneurs, which helped me tremendously. At the same time, sourcing high-quality ingredients and authentic Peruvian products proved to be a challenge, but I was determined to make it work.
Through all of this, maintaining my emotional stability and staying focused on my dreams became my biggest driving force, enjoying now that I have my daughter’s help and support. The passion for what I do and the desire to share my culture with others kept me going, even through the hardest moments.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?

Come join us and taste the love and tradition in every bite!
Can you talk to us a bit about the role of luck?
When I think about luck, I’m reminded of a lesson my parents taught me when I was young: “Whatever you do, do it with love.” To me, it’s not so much about luck—though I do believe I’ve been blessed on this journey. Moving away from my country and being far from my family has certainly been difficult, but it hasn’t been impossible. The key has been surrounding myself with people who inspire me and support my goals. When you share your gifts with love and connect with others who believe in you, it creates opportunities that feel more like blessings than mere luck.
