Today we’d like to introduce you to Jessica Limeberry
Hi Jessica, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I feel in love with the bridal industry pretty early! In college I worked with a wedding photographer and assisted at weddings, and then started photographing weddings on my own. I loved the memories and connections you were able to form, not just with the brides, but with their family and friends as well!
After graduating, and 10 years as a photographer, I purchased Sophia’s Bridal and Tux in Indianapolis from its original owner. This was a big move for me and really allowed me to create something bigger than myself! I loved working with the staff, building up strong women, giving people space for leadership, and creating a business that touched so many lives! After a few years we quickly grew and moved to a bigger space, and then started opening multiple locations! Columbus, IN was our second location, and such a wonderful city!
We feel in love with the charm of Columbus, and the people there. Such a beautiful small town with a big heart!
After that we opened one on the north side of Indianapolis, and then Louisville, KY! So we now have 4 locations.
It’s such a joy to lead such an amazing team, and see so many wonderful brides and families!
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Nothing is ever perfectly smooth in business, and we’ve definitely tried things that didn’t work. I’d say one of my strengths is that I’m not afraid of change. I am really quick to try something, and quick to pivot and move when it’s not working!
One of our biggest hiccups was one year when we planned a huge prom pop-up shop in northern indiana. We had a uhaul and an air bnb and had a big weekend planned and a huge goal. Well Mother Nature had other plans. A blizzard came through and the whole town was shut down! Needless to say that did not work out as we hoped!
Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Sophia’s Bridal and Tux?
Sophia’s Bridal and Tux is a bridal and formal wear store in Indiana and Kentucky! We have the most amazing team of stylists who work so hard to create the most wonderful experiences for each and every bride. We specialize in creating personalized moments for every bride, and walking them through the whole process to help them find their perfect dress. We believe that the wedding dress is the most special piece of clothing a person will ever buy, and we love seeing brides feeling like their best self!
We have wedding dresses from some of the best designers, plus an exclusive line of dresses that we curate especial for our stores! We also have accessories, tuxedos and formalwear! Our sister store XO by Sophia’s is focused on Prom and formal dresses.
Our Columbus location is special because it has a store full of in-stock wedding dresses that brides can take with them that day! This is an awesome option for brides who have quick wedding dates (some dresses can take 4-8 months to order) and for brides who are looking for a dress within $500-2500!
Overall, our job is celebrating amazing life moments!
We’d be interested to hear your thoughts on luck and what role, if any, you feel it’s played for you?
I’d say our success has been lot of luck and a lot of work mixed together. We work really hard, are constantly educating ourselves, learning about people, creating real relationships and putting others first. All of that together creates a magical environment that celebrates love and is filled with joy! We’ve been lucky to have the best employees over the years. People with huge hearts who really poor all their energy into giving others an experience they’ll remember forever!
