Today we’d like to introduce you to Jill Pavel.
Jill, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
In 2013 I. took an internship in the music industry as a vehicle to learn. more about the music industry to help my son who was an artist. Nine months later I started my first record label and started to grow my career through the past 9.5 years. I currently own Heart Songs Music Group, Publicity Nation PR, Get Buzzed Publishing, and Music Update Central.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It has not always been a smooth road, but the rocky road is where you dig in, grow and rise above the challenges. Working in the music industry is not for the thin-skinned or weak mindset. Most of the struggles I encountered along the way were at my own hand, giving more than receiving. I live by a the mantra that you must work as hard as I am if you want to benefit from working by my side.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
We are a full-service artist management, artist development, record label, publishing and a sync firm. We specialize in working with artists who want a long-term career in the industry. I am very proud of the artists we have worked with through the years and our current roster of managed artists. They are all on the rise and we are proud.
Any advice for finding a mentor or networking in general?
I have had a few mentors along the way. The one that has helped me the most is the one who believed in me during one of my dark hours five years ago. Devon O’Day is now working for our publishing company. I reached out to Devon for advice and she has been cheering me on for years. In terms of networking, my advice is to flex. Don’t just network in the Nashville region, Music is universal and there are music communities nationally and internationally. Do not put yourself in a box.
