Today we’d like to introduce you to Kat Goins.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
About ten years ago, I moved to Nashville from the beautiful mountain town of Tahoe, Nevada. When I arrived, I was shocked to find there were no sugaring hair removal options in the area. Sugaring had become such a beloved part of my own skincare routine, and I couldn’t believe it wasn’t available here. So—despite all the nerves that come with stepping into the unknown—I decided to create something myself.
That’s how Body Sugar Boutique was born.
I started small, pouring my heart into every detail, from the services we offered to the way we cared for our clients. Over time, the business grew beyond anything I could have imagined. What started as a personal passion turned into a thriving space for other incredible aestheticians to grow and shine. Today, I’m honored to work alongside some of the most driven, talented, and inspiring women I’ve ever met.
I don’t take the role of leading this team lightly. It’s a privilege to be the caretaker of such an amazing group of professionals who bring their full selves to this work every single day. Watching them thrive while delivering a service that empowers our clients is truly the greatest reward.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Being a business owner comes with a guarantee of ups and downs—there’s no avoiding it. When I first moved to Nashville and opened Body Sugar Boutique, I had no formal business training and was brand new to the area. It felt like I was climbing an uphill battle every single day, learning how to build a business from the ground up while figuring out how to connect with a community that didn’t know me yet.
Then, when COVID hit, a whole new level of challenges was unlocked. Like so many small businesses, we had to get creative, adapt quickly, and power through some truly uncertain times. But if there’s one thing I’ve learned, it’s that resilience is built when you refuse to give up.
Thanks to the incredible team at Body Sugar Boutique, we faced those hard moments together—and came out stronger, more united, and more confident that this is exactly where we’re meant to be. Our passion is helping the women of our community feel beautiful, cared for, and empowered, and every challenge has only deepened our commitment to that mission.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Body Sugar Boutique is a woman-centered, organic sugar hair removal studio with locations across Middle Tennessee and Southern Kentucky. We specialize in sugaring—an ancient, all-natural form of hair removal that’s gentle on the skin and safe for even the most sensitive areas. Unlike waxing, sugaring uses just sugar, lemon, and water—no resins, no chemicals, and no harsh ingredients.
But what truly sets us apart isn’t just what we do—it’s how we do it.
We’ve created a space where women can feel comfortable, confident, and cared for. Our services aren’t rushed; they’re intentional. Every appointment is about more than just smooth skin—it’s about connection, empowerment, and self-care. We’re known for our warmth, our professionalism, and the genuine relationships we build with our clients.
What I’m most proud of is the team. These women bring their hearts to this work. They’re not just skilled aestheticians—they’re caregivers, confidence boosters, and community builders. And that energy is what defines Body Sugar Boutique.
We now offer a range of skin-focused services including organic facials, jelly masks, lash lifts, and more—all designed to help our clients look and feel like the best version of themselves. Whether it’s a first-time sugaring appointment or a long-time guest coming in for their monthly glow-up, we’re here to make every woman feel celebrated.
Our message is simple: Self-care isn’t a luxury—it’s a lifestyle. And we’re honored to be part of that journey for the women in our community.
We all have a different way of looking at and defining success. How do you define success?
I define success by the health, happiness, and heart of my team. When my team feels supported, inspired, and genuinely cared for, everything else falls into place. Their well-being is my greatest priority, because I know that when they are thriving, they’re able to show up fully and connect more deeply with our guests.
The care we extend to our clients starts with how we care for each other. If my team feels safe, seen, and empowered, they can provide the kind of service that leaves people feeling valued, confident, and truly cared for. By taking excellent care of my team, I can ensure our guests receive the same level of exceptional care in return. That kind of ripple effect—rooted in love, trust, and joy—is the truest measure of success in my eyes.
