Today we’d like to introduce you to Kimberly Robinson.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I have loved the energy and vibes of a good group fitness class since I was in highschool! I would go to Pilates at the community center with my mom and then in college they had the best classes at the fitness center. I had also dabbled in CrossFit for several years.
But I was looking for something different….
Fast forward to 2017 and my friend invited me to my first barre class. I was a nervous wreck and barely slept the night before. But, Before I finished the class….i knew it was the perfect workout for me! Not only that, I was so inspired I had the craziest thought that I wanted to teach barre and share the love with my hometown! I continued driving an hour each way for classes and then one day I told my husband my crazy idea of wanting a barre studio closer to home. He offered me his weight room at his gym and made it into the most perfect little barre studio that had 10 spaces. During the studio renovation, I got my first barre teacher certifications-which I continue adding to over the years!
We had our grand opening in April 2017 and I remember wondering if anyone would show up. They really showed up because every class was waitlisted and we outgrew that studio within 6 months and doubled our space in November 2017.
I started offering barre classes only and was the only instructor for the first year. We have since expanded the class offerings to include: yoga, hot yoga, Pilates, aerobics/step/strength, and barre tabata style/hiit classes!
We have a team of 5 other amazing instructors who bring the best energy to our space along with a second studio for the aerobics/step/strength classes.
We are so proud to be the only boutique fitness studio in smith county and pride ourselves on being a one stop shop for your fitness needs-offering boutique athletic wear, a variety of fitness classes with highly trained instructors and we even have acai bowls and fresh juice for our ladies!
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Anyone who owns a small business knows it’s truly something you have to be ALL in!
It was much more challenging for me when I started because my kids were smaller {3&4 at the time} and I was teaching a lot of classes every week and learning how to run a business.
I’ve never taught or attended a class that I didn’t leave the studio feeling better and that is my goal for every person who steps foot in the studio! To leave feeling better, stronger, refreshed, empowered…whatever they needed to take on their day ahead!
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
We are a boutique fitness studio offering barre, Pilates, yoga, hot yoga, aerobics, step, strength training, and tabata/hiit classes for all fitness levels.
