Community Highlights: Meet Lana Jordan of Hair by Lana J.

Today we’d like to introduce you to Lana Jordan. 

Hi Lana, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Hello friends! So, my journey to my dream job was not easy. I worked at night and went to cosmetology school part-time while being a single mother. I was in nursing for 10 years before I went to school for cosmetology. I just simply was not happy working at a hospital. I wanted to help make people feel more confident about themselves. My goal for when someone sits in my chair is to help make them feel beautiful. I love it when a client expresses how much they love their hair! 

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
I was a single mother of three children. I ran most days on anywhere from three to four hours of sleep! I would study at work during slow times. I tried to get in as much studying as I could. I also meet my now husband at this time. I know it was not easy dating me in my mess of a life at the time.

How do you define success?
Success to me is defined by the people who you surround yourself with, be surrounded by people that encourage you and cheer for you. Then you won’t fail.
