Today we’d like to introduce you to LaToya Jones.
Hi LaToya, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I started out college as a psychology major but quickly learned I had a natural talent for numbers. I quickly changed my major to Accounting and added Business Administration as a second major. I received my bachelor’s degree from MacMurray College and then landed my first accounting job while working on my MBA. That is when I started doing taxes on the side. It was something I was always good at as well.
In 2015, I graduated with my MBA from Keller Graduate School of Management and I moved from North Chicago, IL, where I was raised, to Clarksville, TN. Here is where I got my desire to be a business owner. I have watched and cheered on so many of my close friends as they started their businesses and I thought to myself, “ Now is my time.”
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
There were some struggles in my first year of business for sure. Balancing my personal life and time management were definitely my biggest struggles. I put my all into my business and my clients.
I try my best to be available to my clients as much as possible. Most of my clients are small business owners just starting out, so they are looking for an accountant that is both knowledgeable and accessible. I did eventually learn that I do have to set boundaries but it has been an amazing learning experience.
Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Divine Tax & Bookkeeping Services LLC?
Divine Tax & Bookkeeping Services LLC is your one-stop shop for businesses. We provide our clients with expert-level business and personal tax preparation, bookkeeping services, business startup, and business consulting. What sets us apart from any other tax and bookkeeping firm is the relationships we have with our clients. We strive to never leave a question unanswered.
Knowledge is power and our job is to teach our clients how to do things the right way. We started with a team of two and now have expanded to a team of four and we could not be more excited to be able to reach more clients. In the future, we plan to offer tax and business courses.
Are there any apps, books, podcasts, blogs, or other resources you think our readers should check out?
One of my favorite tax strategists on YouTube is Karlton Dennis. I also subscribe to newsletters from irs.gov to stay up-to-date on any tax law changes. The book I am reading right now is the 360 Degree Leader by John C. Maxwell so that I can be a better leader for my employees. It is important that I am always learning and growing.
