Community Highlights: Meet Laura And Charlie Packard of BinFresh LLC

Today we’d like to introduce you to Laura And Charlie Packard.

Hi Laura and Charlie, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
BinFresh launched in March 2021 serving the greater Nashville area. As a husband and wife team became empty-nesters, Charlie and Laura Packard decided to follow their dream and start their own business together. Their daughters grew up enjoying the beaches and waterways of Saint Simons Island, GA and Beaufort, SC. The most important criteria for their new business was to focus on an environmental platform that would help ensure a safer and healthier planet for their girls and their generation and for those to follow by committing to a business that plays a part in keeping our water safe and clean. Thus, BinFresh was born!

Since then, we have grown to over 2000 recurring residential customers and have 4 trucks. We have also been hired by many HOA’s, AirBnB owners, hotels, restaurants, apartment complexes, and companies with fleet vehicles to clean their bins, dumpsters, and trucks. Even realtors have begun using our service as closing gifts.

It has been an interesting ride for sure, but well worth the hard work and care we have put into our baby. We look forward to continuing to expand here in the Nashville area, as well as opening up BinFresh in many other cities all over the south!

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Like any family owned, small business, there are some major growing pains along the way. The main issue we have run into is making people know about this service. Almost all of our new customers say, “I had know idea this was a thing”! While in the United Kingdom, where this industry began, over 35% of the population uses it, less than 1% of the US population has ever heard of it. This is one of the main reasons we were so interested in starting our business. There is a ton of growth potential! Another major issue is maintaining our vehicles. These trucks are used almost daily and when you are dealing with 200 degree water and high pressure, things tend to break. This business also has a very high barrier to entry due to the cost of our specialized trucks and having the money to cover the costs for 4-5 years while building up to a critical mass where you are finally able to turn a profit. Over 98% of these companies go out of business within the first year or two because they don’t understand it takes a lot of time to build up customers, one at a time while having to cover all the overhead. The last major hurdle is as we grew, it is very hard to find dependable, hard working, and honest labor. We have been through so many employees it is ridiculous. Fellow small business owners who read this will agree with most all of these issues. There are quite a lot more, but I only have so much room to include them!

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
At BinFresh, we sterilize and deodorize your trash bins so that you don’t have to! Our no-hassle curbside cleaning is specifically designed to make your day. We wash your bins inside and out using high-pressure water and eco-friendly cleaning products to steam and kill 99.9% of bacteria, fungi and viruses currently living in and on your trash bin.

Since we take the dirty water and dispose of it in an environmentally safe way, the best part is you will feel better knowing that harmful chemicals will not seep into the groundwater or storm drains that end up polluting our rivers, streams, and lakes. It’s a win, win for you, your neighbors, and our communities!

We are proud to say that we have over 200 Google reviews, all are 5 Star, and they highlight our outstanding Customer Service, High Level of Communication, and How incredible the Results are after cleanings. We now have over 2000 recurring customers and 4 trucks running full time.

Serving Residential, Commercial and Home-Owner Associations! We service roughly a 20 mile radius from downtown Nashville to include, Gallatin, Hendersonville, Mt. Juliet, Lebanon, down to Murfreesboro, over to Franklin, up to Pegram, and even Clarksville, and all areas in between!

Where do you see things going in the next 5-10 years?
We strongly believe that as more people become aware of the industry, it will become the norm. We see major consolidation within the next five years, where there will be major players buying up smaller companies. We plan to become one of those, and have already purchased four companies here in the Nashville area. We also see that AI is beginning to have. major impact in taking over “white collar” jobs, so private and institutional investors are beginning to take a strong interest in established “blue collar” companies to buy or partner with. We have recently been approached by a Chicago based Private Equity Firm who wants to partner with us and help us scale. While very validating, we are not ready to bring on “active” partners, but are going to be seeking private, “silent” investors in 2026 to help us expand to other cities and states. We are excited to see this industry grow within the US and are positive it will as more people become aware of it.
