

Today, we’d like to introduce you to Leslie Murray.
Hi Leslie, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start, maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers.
I wanted to provide a service that was all-encompassing. My tagline is One List, One Bid, and Done. I also wanted to provide great customer service and communication. Also, being a woman-owned business, I felt it would help women be able to talk to a woman. I wanted one crew that was reliable and customer-oriented and did not have random people with many different businesses in and out of the houses I was working on.
I put this all together in a business plan, went down and paid $300 to register my LLC, and then spent every Sunday going to Open Houses where Realtors were and passing my card out. Then asked to speak at sales meetings. And it went from just making home inspection lists to remodels to all the above and a subscription home maintenance program.
Can you talk to us about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I think when you own your own business if there aren’t a few lessons learned along the way, you are not growing. And bad clients can be just as much of a learning experience as your awesome customers.
I worked for a big company for a year, and it was a year of making no money because the big company made all the money. My guys worked hard to keep up with their demands to the point where my guys who had been with me for three years were going to quit.
I lost sight of my true business. I quit immediately working for the big company, gave my guys a weeks break and got back to the business I wanted and worked hard for. It was a lesson learned, and I had to pivot and get back to who we were.
Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Let Us Do It HomeServices?
We have three areas to the business:
1. Checklist – Give us a list, and we will get it all done. Whether that be from a home inspection or a honey do list. Small to big.
2. Remodeling – We do complete remodels- bathrooms, kitchen, decks, porches, living areas- from demo to a beautiful new home area.
3. Subscription program – Monthly subscription based on the square footage of the house. We will come out once in the spring and once in the fall to do a specific list of items to keep your house maintained. We also give discounts on labor if there are any issues and partner with an HVAC company to do their bi-yearly maintenance.
We’d be interested to hear your thoughts on luck and what role, if any, you feel it’s played for you?
I believe aligning yourself with people that are like minded-other small business owners, partnerships with other companies-helps everyone.
It’s networking, be a good partner member, and respecting people and their businesses. I don’t feel like I have had bad luck, but a positive attitude each day eliminates some of that. But I think I have got where I am because of hard work and relationships.
