Community Highlights: Meet Matt Hadley of Wander Creative

Today we’d like to introduce you to Matt Hadley.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I started my company 10 years ago, back in 2012. Since then, I’ve grown from being a solopreneur to a small agency. It started out as providing creative services (graphic design, video production, and photography) to anybody who would take it.

Eventually, I got connected with a national touring band and they offered me an opportunity to tour with them capturing content and running their social media accounts. When their next album was about to drop, their label started to pull me into marketing for the album, and eventually, that same label, along with others in town, started to use me for online marketing.

It was then I decided to begin to put support pieces in place and start to scale my business!

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
If anyone tells you entrepreneurship is a smooth road, they either are the exception to the rule or are straight-up lying. I often think of Donald Miller and his book “Business Made Simple.”

In it he references that building a business is similar to deciding you are going to drive an old beat-up car across the country, you know that there are going to be some obstacles along the way and you’ll have to stop every hundred miles for maintenance, but the journey is well worth it in the end.

From growing pains to figuring out how to manage cash flow, and from figuring out how to put quality control processes in place to hire the right people, it has not been an easy journey and I know why most people throw in the towel. I know I almost have more than once, but the “entrepreneurial itch” keeps me going.

We’ve been impressed with Wander Creative, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
We believe that the internet is one of the most powerful tools in the history of mankind and we want to help our clients spread positivity through that vessel.

Wander Creative works with purpose-driven creatives, entrepreneurs, and small-to-medium-sized businesses on all things digital: from aesthetic visual brand representation to compelling digital advertising, to intentional social media strategy and management.

Specifically, we help our clients in one of four areas: Social media management, digital advertising, email & SMS marketing, or creative services.

Where do you see things going in the next 5-10 years?
10 years ago Facebook was still relatively new, the iPhone had only been around for a few years and Instagram was still in its infancy. To say that the industry that Wander Creative works in is ever-changing is not an understatement.

Our goal is to stay on top of trends and the constantly changing algorithms to provide the best guidance to our clients. One thing we don’t see changing is authentic video content that engages the user.

That is why we are such strong believers in the power of the brand and in building a strong brand story that is compelling.
