Today we’d like to introduce you to Dr. Megan Morrison.
Hi Dr. Morrison, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My husband and I moved to middle Tennessee in 2015 and worked in the area before starting our own practice in 2020. I am originally from Florida and my husband is originally from Colorado, but we fell in love with Nashville when we would visit over the holidays. We currently live in Franklin with our daughter and 2 fur babies and love working to serve our community!
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
We have learned a lot along the way while working with practices that did not fit our goal of patient-centered care. We began starting our practice when our daughter was 4 weeks old at the start of COVID in April 2020. It wasn’t an easy task, but with the help of my husband, family, and an amazing team of coworkers, we were able to open in September 2020.
We’ve been impressed with Harpeth Valley Dermatology, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
At Harpeth Valley Dermatology, we are family and we invite you to be part of our family. Our focus will be on providing our patients with the best in dermatologic care from one of our experienced Board-Certified Dermatologists. When you come to our office you are guaranteed to see a physician. Combined, our physicians have over 25 years of experience with advanced training in complex medical dermatology including skin cancer, pediatric dermatoses, dermatologic surgery, and cosmetic services. We also offer phototherapy and laser treatments. Our promise to you is a personalized experience built on the foundation of a strong physician-patient relationship and cultivated further by the support of our wonderful staff.
What was your favorite childhood memory?
One of my favorite childhood memories is going to work with my dad. After retiring on disability as a police officer in Washington DC he earned a Master’s degree in Psychology and started a free counseling center for disabled police officers. As a child, I recall drinking all of his small coffee creamers and organizing paper clip sizes as he provided free therapy for police officers. However, above all else, I remember being so inspired by his drive to help others who had no access to resources to help themselves. Now my father has Alzheimer’s and cannot share his amazing police stories or business pearls so I often reflect fondly on our “take your daughter to work” experiences. I credit his drive as a business entrepreneur while having 4 children with how I was able to start our practice during a pandemic with a newborn.
