Community Highlights: Meet Melinda Melton of Inspired Help

Today we’d like to introduce you to Melinda Melton

Hi Melinda, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I’ve been the proud owner of Inspired Help since 2020, but my journey in the wedding industry began alongside Brittany Smith, the founder of Inspired Help, in 2015. Before transitioning to event planning, I started my career in commercial real estate, where I honed my skills in negotiation, project management, and client relations—skills that seamlessly translated to the world of wedding planning.

At Inspired Help, I’ve orchestrated over 200 weddings, leveraging my experience to ensure each event is uniquely memorable. I’ve also managed two prominent event venues in Nashville, which deepened my expertise in venue operations and event logistics. Beyond weddings, I’ve taken on diverse projects like coordinating the annual Cumberland River Dragon Boat Festival and TEDxNashville’s Society of Fellows Dinner. This broad range of experiences has shaped my approach to creating exceptional events, combining a strong foundation in business with a passion for making every celebration extraordinary.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
The world of weddings and events graciously found its way into my life, and it’s been quite the adventure ever since! My journey began with helping out on weddings for the very company I now own. Soon enough, I was thrust into a role as a venue representative at a fantastic event space, quickly climbing the ranks to Venue Manager. This opened doors to exciting roles in event support at VUMC’s Strategy and Innovation office and later as Operations & Events Manager at a local non-profit. Each experience was a stepping stone, leading me to take the leap and fully embrace wedding planning.

Navigating the transition to Business Owner in 2020 was anything but smooth. It was a period of reflection, uncertainty, and the occasional “will events ever happen again?” moment. But, as any entrepreneur will tell you, wearing multiple hats and hustling through challenges is part of the journey. I poured my energy into what I believed in, and it has paid off tremendously.

Every day is a new learning opportunity, and I’m endlessly grateful for the challenges and triumphs that have shaped my path. I wake up excited and thankful for the chance to turn dreams into reality!

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Inspired Help?
