Community Highlights: Meet Michael Amer of Skyline Group LLC

Today we’d like to introduce you to Michael Amer.

Hi Michael, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
My name is Michael Amer. I’m a Martial artist and an entrepreneur; I am the Founder/Head Coach of KNOCKOUT MMA ACADEMY. At the academy, we have one of the best Fighting teams in MMA, Muay Thai, K1, and BJJ. These athletes have become world champions. My journey started at a young age, with an ever-growing love for the sport and various training camps in Thailand, in which I used to bring back some equipment to sell in my hometown to support my fighters. One day, after graduating from university, I started several businesses. Along the way, with the extreme knowledge and experience I had gained in the Martial Arts world, designing and producing my brand made sense. This is when “Guerra Sports” was born. I taught myself Photoshop and illustrator and started making my designs to keep the feel and quality an athlete would need. In 2014, I decided to stop chasing after sponsors for the Team I was training and be self-sufficient. Guerra is now not only a retail sports brand but is actively sponsoring Athletes worldwide to ensure they have the equipment they need to reach their goals.

Please talk to us about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned. Has it been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Unfortunately, all startup businesses come with their share of smoothness and difficulties. For instance, choosing the proper factory to manufacture the items, to guarantee high quality and professionalism, and to gain the trust was a difficult journey, but one we have succeeded in and are proud to say our quality and comfort are exceptional. Thankfully we only had a few hiccups along the way, but you learn and grow from them, making a business more knowledgeable and stronger.

Let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
I’ve been a martial artist since I was very young, competing in Muay Thai, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, and Judo for almost 30 years, graduating from university with 3 majors Marketing, Management & Hospitality Management. After my routine work, I hit the academy and practiced my passion every day. In 2007 my first company was Skyline Productions for Outdoor Advertising. I own Billboards, LED screens on the roads, Advertising Trucks, etc.; later, in 2008, I opened my Martial arts academy, KNOCKOUT MMA ACADEMY. In 2014 Launched the GUERRA sports brand, and we became an international brand with many Franchises across the globe. Later this year, I partnered up with my two brothers and established our family business, a factory for trucks, trailers, and steel structures in Ghana, Africa. After all these years, I decided to make one group entity that would manage all this hard work called SKYLINE GROUP LLC. We are in it to motivate and provide athletes and sports lovers with top-of-the-line gear, equipment, and sportswear that will give them comfort, protection, and uniqueness in style and design. I train my team with all my heart.

What do you think about happiness?
What makes me happy is seeing a dream come true: Athletes worldwide wearing The Brand proudly. Especially the professional ones who have a great career in sports. On the other hand, my team is getting gold medals at the MMA world and continental Championships because now we can afford to have a big camp with 7 Coaches and specialists in many disciplines working with our athletes daily. This journey is helping a lot of Delinquent Kids and youth individuals to change their perspective in life, giving them goals to achieve and a career in sports that will keep them away from the streets, and our job is to reintegrate them into society.
