Community Highlights: Meet Nelson Brooks of Cocktail CowBoys & The Cocktail Crew

Today we’d like to introduce you to Nelson Brooks.

Hi Nelson, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your back story.
I’ve always had an interest in creating memorable experiences for other people. Life is short and I try to live it with an exclamation point. This desire led me to start our company in 2020, with a focus on bachelorette weekends. We wanted to bring charismatic professionalism to the hospitality and travel industry, by creating safe spaces for people to celebrate and have fun. 

After we had some initial success in Scottsdale (as the Cabana Boys), we decided to expand to Nashville in 2021 (as the Cocktail CowBoys). Bachelorette parties were our primary focus at the time (and still our bread and butter), so it was a logical place to be. We’ve now expanded to 7 cities nationwide, served thousands of customers, and operate under 5 brands. It’s been a wild ride and we’re just getting started. 

We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It certainly has not been a smooth road. We’ve been very fortunate with several decisions we’ve made – going into the bachelorette market, hiring great people, and creating a service that was in demand. But it hasn’t always been rainbows and unicorns. I manage the company remotely, so it can be difficult to implement and maintain standards in all of the cities we operate in. 

Our hiring record has been good, but not perfect, and that has highlighted the need to hire the best. There have also been some self-inflicted brand identity issues that we recently solved. Working through these issues took patience and a good team of collaborative and invested people. 

We’ve been impressed with Cocktail Cowboy’s & The Cocktail Crew, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
The Cocktail Cowboys are the ultimate party hosts.  

We’ll pamper and entertain you, by serving up delicious drinks, helping with party/drinking games, taking pictures, being Spotify DJs, keeping the party area clean, and showing y’all a rootin’ tootin’ good time. Yeehaw! We are great for bachelorette parties, birthdays, girls’ weekends, and other themed events. Most of our guests hire us for pre-games, brunches, game nights, themed events, house parties, and social gatherings. 

The Cocktail Crew is a more traditional bartending service, catering to corporate events, holiday parties, charity functions, and more. While our team is charismatic, we drop the cowboy theme and focus on serving up great cocktails. 

I’m very proud of our ability to adapt to any event type. We have a large team that is professional and skilled, ready to make any event unforgettable. 

What matters most to you?
Creating memories. Life is too short to sit around and do nothing. 

That’s why I created this company and why I try to embody this zest for life day in and day out. I want to create something unforgettable and something I can look back at when I’m old and gray and be proud of.
