Community Highlights: Meet Pedro Polanco of Panca Peruvian Restaurant and Titi Tax Accounting Service

Today we’d like to introduce you to Pedro Polanco.

Hi Pedro, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstories.
I was born in the Dominican Republic and came to New Jersey in the summer of 2002. I was already a professional Accountant in my country, but due to the language barrier, I have to work in a factory to be able to support my three children and my wife. In September of 2004, I moved to Nashville, TN searching for a better quality of life for my family, I worked in a Nissan factory and for a friend recommendation I went back to school to, in National College I meet the Accounting teacher, Jim Rabek who helped me to build my resume and get my first Accounting job at Kroger.

After this job, I worked as an Accounting Manager and Analyst for multiple companies LKQ/ARAMARK, etc., in 2009, I created and small bookkeeper/Tax firm (TITI TAX ACCOUNTING SERVICE) This allow me to be financially responsible for multiple Spanish restaurants and get involved in the restaurant business. How I become the owner of the best Peruvian Restaurant in Nashville? I was the Accountant of the previous owner Marlon Cedillo and in October of 2019 he told me that wanted to sell the business, I realize that this was a good opportunity to acquire a restaurant and improved some detail that I thought the restaurant was missing. After I became the owner, I added a nice Patio. a Bar, TVs for sports lovers, and Latin music. now this place is more than the best Peruvian Food in Nashville, this is a great place to enjoy a cool beer, Peruvian Pisco, the best mojitos, and enjoy a great family-oriented environment.

To finish I just want to mention some of my personal qualities; I believe in GOD and I think that nothing is possible without him beside you. I have been married for 25 years to Fior Martinez, that woman I loved and she has been on my side in the good and the bad moments, I have two daughters Genesis/Daisy, and one son Daniel that I love from the bottom of my heart and my family was the motivation that help to become who I am today.

I am well known in the Spanish community because I like to help people and guide them to achieve their dreams, I like to think that I am an example that hard work and dedication can take you to places that you ever dream, I humble want to say thank for giving this opportunity that people get to know a little bit of my journey.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
No, it was very hard in NJ we used to live in a tiny apartment paying at that time $900 rent and earning $8 per hour for many years it was a luxury for my family to eat at McDonald, Here in Nashville things were a little better, but in 2007 because was bad house mortgage I got deep in debt and I was close to losing the house. those were very difficult years.

Other things that make it hard; to be able to communicate in a different language and convince people that you have the knowledge to perform certain jobs that requires you to use your brain. I was convinced that I could do better and at a certain point in my life, I was working from 7: 00 AM to 7:00 PM Monday to Sunday and still manage to be a go-to colleague for 2 years.

Also, from 2007 to 2019 was worked as an Accountant for regular office hours and after that worked in building my own Accounting Firm. I think Covid-19 as bad as it was it help me to get some much-needed rest.

As you know, we’re big fans of Panca Peruvian Restaurant and Titi Tax Accounting Service. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
First, let’s talk about the restaurant Panca Peruvian Restaurant is located at 3915 Nolensville Pike, Nashville, TN 37211 is well known for the quality, and the flavor of the food. Is a traditional Peruvian food cooking by the way Peruvian food has won’t for 8 straight years the food of the world, this restaurant has a great family-oriented environment.

I want to invite you to visit us and try the best Roasted Chicken, Pescado a lo Macho, the Lomo Saltado and very special Seafood, also we made the best Peruvian traditional Pisco Sower of Nashville. About my accounting firm, I am the Accountant for around 40 clients combined in restaurants and Contractors. Also, I prepare personal income tax for about 400 clients every year.

The reason that I set apart from the others is that everybody knows me as a person that I like to help, I am fair and do not charge any fee for my service if I understand that I did not help you with your need, also I am always available to answer the question, to guide people even if you’re not my client.

In terms of your work and the industry, what are some of the changes you are expecting to see over the next five to ten years?
The restaurant is my biggest focus right now and for the next probably 3 years I want to take it to the next level, improving and making this the best place that what it is today to eat and have fun since I am including live music every weekend, probably Covid-19 push us back in the plan to open another PANCA in TN and we have to rethink what will be the next step.
