Today we’d like to introduce you to Penny Haas.
Penny, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
My name is Penny Haas and I am the owner and lead planner for Penny Haas, LLC. While attending Middle Tennessee State University both of my sisters were planning their weddings. I loved the idea of putting together a lavish event, so I explored options in event management and began as an intern at Stones River Country Club doing their events and catering. From then on, it was history!
I worked in the private club and formal dining world for seven years booking the events and managing every aspect from catering and menu planning to set up design and service. From there, I worked in the hospitality and hotel industry, where I learned more about corporate events and conventions. The experience gained from multiple venues and atmospheres allowed me to be well-rounded in all event aspects from weddings and black-tie galas to conference management and corporate functions.
I ventured into the Nashville event scene in 2018 while working at a nationally renowned music venue- Mercy Lounge and Cannery Ballroom. While working downtown, I had the opportunity to grow and direct a private event department. My portfolio and knowledge expanded far beyond my wildest dreams!! I worked with clients from CMT, Synchrony Bank, Corona Light, Bank of America, and gained insight into another level of events in the music industry.
I decided to venture out on my own full-time in December 2020. With the launch of my own company, I learned more about branding, social media, contracting, and business ownership. I enjoy working on proposals, creating connections, establishing trust, and helping my clients with their event needs.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
An obstacle/challenge I’ve faced in my first year of business is juggling the day-to-day operations of owning a business. I can sell and communicate all day. I can take event notes, make diagrams, create timelines in my sleep.
Add in the deep dive into accounting, maintaining social media, and establishing a brand, and you got yourself, one busy person! It’s been an experience and I learn every day.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
Penny Haas, LLC is a premier planning company guaranteed to exceed expectations for all event purposes. Let us plan so you can get back to the party!
We’d love to hear about any fond memories you have from when you were growing up?
My favorite childhood memories include going out to dinner every Friday night with my family and cheering in high school. Both experiences and memories helped me grow into the person I am today.
The dining experience taught me more about service, food, hosting, hospitality, and being in good company. Cheering helped me learn how to perform, be disciplined, and how to compete.
