Community Highlights: Meet Ryan Hall of Nellys Italian Cafe

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ryan Hall.

Hi Ryan , please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
20 years ago I met my wife working for my future father in law at his legendary pizzeria. When we fell in love we decided to carry on the family tradition and open our own pizzeria. We opened our first store in 2008 in a partnership with the family. After 5 years we decided to do something different and opened a food truck. Two years into the food truck life we realised how much we missed having a brick and mortar. We searched our area for a location. In 2014 we opened our own pizzeria Nellys Italian Cafe. We have been operating now for 11 years. Running a pizzeria/restaurant is not easy but is a passion that runs deep in our family. Throughout the years we have grown our business with hard work and dedication. We are proud to be a staple in the community.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
We started off with very limited resources but as the years went on we were able to put more and more into our business to make it what it is today. Our biggest challenge is our space is small but we love our location so we make it work. Remodelling our store to maximise our space was the hardest thing we have had to do but it dramatically changed our business for the better. We are more efficient and aesthetically pleasing. We went from a closed kitchen to an open kitchen concept.

We’ve been impressed with Nellys Italian Cafe, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Nellys Italian Cafe was started 11 years ago with husband and wife team Ryan & Danielle Hall. We are an authentic NY Pizzeria & Italian restaurant. We are most famous for our pizza but we serve and cater a variety of Italian dishes and desserts. Our customer service and family recipes is what sets us apart. Im extremely proud of our brand because we have people travel near and far to come to us. We are very involved in the community and have sponsored 100’s of clubs and events throughout the years.

What quality or characteristic do you feel is most important to your success?
Determination and my ability to talk to anyone.
