Community Highlights: Meet Tresa Halbrooks of LEGACY Consulting, PR & Events

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tresa Halbrooks.

Hi Tresa, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Thank you for the opportunity. Living and building my career in Nashville has been an incredible journey.

In 2012, I was blessed to launch LEGACY Consulting, PR & Events, an award-winning firm that focuses on clients ranging from professional athletes and entertainers to corporate entities and non-profit organizations. We specialize in public relations, media, branding, community relations and philanthropic strategies as well as complete event planning and production.

Prior to that, I worked for the Tennessee Titans (NFL team), for eleven years. I worked with players on their image, community appearances, special events, and foundation efforts. I also served as the team’s non-profit, community and league liaison as well as producing foundation events and directed events for the Tennessee Titans Women’s Association.

Before joining the NFL, I worked for one of the largest entertainment companies (at the time) Gaylord Entertainment and a large retail corporate headquarters based in Brentwood, TN – Service Merchandise where I began my career in Community Relations and Event Production.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The road to success is rarely paved. It’s usually a gravel road with potholes and many challenges along the way.

Almost every time I made a change in my career path, it was because I was pushed to do so. Whether it was the company closing its doors or a department being downsized, change is inevitable. I had to learn to adapt and make it work for me. And it was always uncomfortable. But I have often advised my entrepreneurial clients to “get comfortable with being uncomfortable.”

I’m so fortunate that each move I had to make elevated the road I was traveling. The next opportunity was a better one than the one I was departing from. So many times I was afraid to take a leap of faith, but I did it anyway. With no risk, there’s no reward. It’s a bit like standing on a diving board and hoping there is enough water in the pool below to catch you. You simply have to trust that God has plans for you.

Jeremiah 29:11 says: “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”

We’ve been impressed with LEGACY Consulting, PR & Events, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Our goal is to create solutions for our clients, whether it’s a public relations campaign to enhance their overall image within their industry, developing a new brand or identifying a charitable cause to partner with. We don’t believe in a “cookie-cutter” approach because one size does not fit all.

Our clients range from corporate, small businesses and non-profit organizations to athletes, artists and media personalities. Our clients are vastly different and our strategies to serve those needs reflect that. Each need is different. Each story is unique. Each industry is respected.

Our passion is truly about service – serving our clients and serving the community.

I’ve been blessed to coach some of the most well-known celebrities regarding their personal image and philanthropy and shape the image of hundreds of athletes across the country for more than two decades as my company continues to do so.

I’ve been honored to play a role in some of the most impressive community efforts and prestigious events in Nashville for 25 years. I’ve spent my career working with some of the most talented and illustrious personalities in the sports, entertainment, and business community to make a difference in the lives of others. It’s been a thrill and a true blessing. That’s why I named my company “LEGACY” because it’s more than just making a difference, we want to help our clients create their own LEGACY, no matter what that is.

I’ve been honored to be awarded the Nashville Business Journal’s Top Forty Under 40 in 2011; Nashville Area Chamber of Commerce’s Emerging Leaders Award in 2009; Nashville Business Journal’s Women of Influence Award in 2007 and The Tennessean’s Top 40 Under 40 in 2005.

I’m also proud that our events division, LEGACY Events is known as one of the top Celebrity Event Planners and was selected as a Best in Business Award Recipient: Event Production & Best Event Planners in 2015 and 2016 in Brentwood/Franklin, TN.

In terms of your work and the industry, what are some of the changes you are expecting to see over the next five to ten years?
If the pandemic taught us anything, it’s to expect the unexpected. Who would have imagined that the entire events industry would have shut down for more than a year? Live Events were gone and now they are back with a vengeance. We have so many things going on and I’m thankful for that.

We have two divisions of the company – PR/Branding and Event Production. Both of those industries will inevitably change over the years. Social media and digital platforms will play a huge role in PR, as they have over the past decade, and that will continue to develop and push in a new creative direction.

Live Events had to refocus during the pandemic, creating a space for elaborate virtual events, and I think you’ll see significant changes in the arena as well.

Be ready for change.
