Community Highlights: Meet Val Hudson of The Family Sleep Coach LLC

Today we’d like to introduce you to Val Hudson.

Hi Val, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I started out working in corporate roles, first in sales and customer service, then leading a trust & safety team in a startup environment, so I had years of experience managing people, processes, and sometimes difficult service challenges. When I got pregnant with my first, twin boys, in 2020, I began diving deep into baby-sleep research, driven by the practical need in our own home. The confidence grew when I applied what I was learning in real time and saw that my own kids were sleeping through the night at ten weeks adjusted. Then friends, family, sorority sisters started texting and calling me to ask their baby sleep questions. When my boys were 1.5, I had my daughter and put all of my knowledge to work again, and despite a different baby with different needs and temperament, my daughter started sleeping well very early on. That’s when I realized that my interest could become something more than a hobby, it could become a business that helped families.

I then formalized my training, earning a certification as a pediatric sleep consultant through the Center for Pediatric Sleep Management. I launched my business in early 2023 with packages to support families virtually and later started incorporating in-person sleep coaching for families throughout Middle TN and Southern KY. At first I ran it as a side-hustle while continuing my full-time job and managing family life and slowly built up clients through referrals and word-of-mouth.

Eventually I sensed that the time was right to transition to full-time sleep consulting: I saw the demand, I’d built some structure, and I felt ready. Now I help families find better sleep for their children so that parents can reclaim their nights and their days while also working from a place of flexibility, being present for my own family, and building a business that aligns with my values.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It has been exciting, scary, and the hardest work I’ve ever done, that said, it hasn’t always been smooth but its worth it! Over the last few years, I’ve experienced set backs in transitioning from side hustle to full time work. I work each and every day to support my clients and my own family, and to build the connections and trust necessary for partners to refer families to my business.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
What we do / what we specialize in
At The Family Sleep Coach, I offer expert pediatric sleep consulting services rooted in a personalized, compassionate approach. Through a free 20-minute discovery call, I begin by understanding your family’s unique sleep situation. I then provide a Personalized Sleep Plan, tailored to your child’s age, temperament, and your family’s rhythms. That is followed by structured support over typically email and/or text over a two-week period, with wrap-up calls to check in, troubleshoot, and make sure things are embedding well.
My services cover a wide age range: from establishing healthy sleep habits right from birth to 12 weeks, through sleep training and schedule support from 4 months up to elementary age.

What sets us apart / what we’re known for

For families in Middle Tennessee and Southern Kentucky, I offer my services in person which is a unique offering compared to most sleep coaching that is solely virtual. I’m also certified consultant with Center for Pediatric Sleep Management (CPSM), so you’re working with someone who has formal training, ethical standards, and up-to-date methods. And as my branding explicitly emphasises, I focus on family-wide sleep and recognize that “family” looks different for each household (including dads, grandparents raising grandkids, foster families).

What we’re most proud of (brand wise)

I’m proud of the way my business is built from personal experience and a desire to meet families where they are, and offer a judgement free solution to sleep concerns. I’m also proud that my brand centers the whole family, not just the baby or mom alone and reflects my holistic, inclusive approach.

I’m so proud to help families reclaim their sleep and thereby improve their quality of life: better rested parents, healthier children, calmer days and nights.

What we want people (readers) to know about our brand, offerings, services, etc.

If you’re struggling with your child’s sleep, short naps, frequent night wakings, inconsistent routines, help is available. And it doesn’t have to be overwhelming or impersonal. Through The Family Sleep Coach you get a free discovery call to ask questions and learn whether the support is a good fit. After that, you receive a custom plan, a clear start date, ongoing support via text/email, and a wrap-up call, all to ensure you don’t feel left alone once the plan is delivered. You’ll gain not just short-term gains (like longer night stretches) but also sustainable habits and routines that carry through developmental transitions (teething, travel, regression) because you’re learning how to adapt rather than just “fix” one moment. You’re working with someone who is both highly trained and personally invested—someone who has walked the path, built the business with family in mind, and views each family as unique.

Finally: If you’re in Middle Tennessee or Southern Kentucky and the thought of sleep training feels overwhelming, in-home support is one of my favorite pieces of this business. You can focus on resting and resetting, while I ensure your little one is supported through the first few nights of sleep training!
