Community Highlights: Meet Vanessa Haley

Today we’d like to introduce you to Vanessa Haley.

Hi Vanessa, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I’m pretty sure it all started with blending colors to get that “just right” shade for Cinderella’s dress in my coloring book. That love of shading crayons morphed into a love of blending makeup.

While I always loved helping friends on special occasions, I had no idea how to make it a career. So, I took a more traditional route – got a job in retail, got married, started a career in customer service, had our son, and stepped out of the corporate world.

After a few years of staying home, teaching preschool, and owning a small consignment sale, the makeup artist itch was still strong. As our son started school, I was able to begin my career with Clinique. As I grew in my skill, and learned all the ins and outs of skincare, it only made sense to attend school for Aesthetics to round out my knowledge.

After 8 years, it was time to leap into owning my own Makeup & Aesthetics practice, and for the last 15 years I have been living a young girl’s dream come true.

We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Some of the largest challenges for me were balancing work and home times. Trying to build a business and raise a teenage boy isn’t for the faint of heart.

Also, learning some of the quirks of an artistically driven industry, while building and maintaining a professional reputation can be anxiety-inducing.

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about your work?
I’m probably best known for my wedding work, and adore making girls and women of all ages feel their absolute best.

Included in that are the facials, peels, treatments, waxing, spray tans, etc. It is always my goal to provide the best service and advice I can offer for what the client needs.

What makes you happy?
I try to find joy in the everyday.

Connecting with new clients, experiencing life with long-time clients and friends, completing a makeup look and the client is so excited she almost cries, hearing a client’s soft snores while I’m giving her a facial…. Knowing those in my care feel completely comfortable and safe with me is the best compliment ever.
