Conversations with Alisha Allen

Today we’d like to introduce you to Alisha Allen.

Hi Alisha, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstories.
I’ve been working in the on-camera/entertainment industry for about 21 years. I started off doing extra work in local films and then struggled to land a job when I graduated college in 2008. The economy was in a tough spot and my degree was in Communications so jobs were few and far in between. At that time, I joined an agency and started working with QVC along with many other production companies. I always knew my passion was to entertain and bring that genuine connection to the masses. 16 years ago I took my first TV Hosting class and the rest was history.

This was my BABY…the outlet that spoke to me and brought me insane amounts of joy. While I did eventually land a job at a PR agency handling major clients and international events, my soul kept bringing me back to hosting jobs.

After a decade of balancing those two worlds, I finally had the courage to leave my corporate job and focus on my TV Hosting Career. It’s the best decision I’ve ever made and have been blessed to consistently work on my passion projects for the past 9 years. I have worked with hundreds of national and international brands ranging from cleaning supplies all the way to luxury jewelry. I have also been fortunate enough to MC many live events, webcasts, and red-carpet galas. My social media projects focus on my personal joys which include food and travel.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Smooth road? Never heard of it…lol.

I obviously choose an incredibly competitive, hard, and unreliable career path. Let me tell you…my skin grew three times thicker over the years. Many tears were shed and I had numerous moments when I almost gave up. Many times when I had a career lull or didn’t book a job, I was certain I nailed in an audition…it made me question my path. Fear was the ruler. Fear was almost the killer of my dream…heck, it’s the killer of most dreams. Then one day I asked myself, If I wasn’t working in this industry or as a host, would I truly be happy?

The answer was undeniable and it’s honestly the only thing I’ve ever been certain of in my life. Don’t ask me what I’m ordering for dinner…that’s way more complicated (haha). So I decided I would never let fear rule the day. I would stay committed to being the best on-camera host I could be and trust the Universe and my journey. I’m so grateful to focus on my dream job every day and the minute I let go and truly trusted my path…well the road became a lot smoother.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am an on-camera host who works with numerous brands in multiple industries. These brands typically bring me in to highlight their products and create general awareness of their benefits.

I also do spokesperson work on my socials for several companies. @Alishaallenhost.

My passion projects include my foodie page and most of my followers love to see our constant food/travel adventures. I just started an account on all socials @chasincheatmeals for a soft 2022 launch. It’s been a blast to just put out content for me and I’m looking forward to elevating this brand in 2023.

What sort of changes are you expecting over the next 5-10 years?
I see a great deal of studio hosting work making a shift to simply using socials like IG/TikTok.

I also feel live streaming platforms will be the way of the world for many on-air hosts. People are moving away fully from their TVs and the integration of streaming services is at an all-time high. You’re either scrolling on TikTok or now going to TikTok lives to buy the latest and greatest.
