Conversations with Anna Goode

Today we’d like to introduce you to Anna Goode.

Alright, thank you for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us how you got started?
I have had a love of fashion since I was little. I would draw clothes and doodle designs in class or church. I got into the runway, red carpet, and pop culture fashion as I got older. I became interested in fashion magazines like Vogue and Harpers Bazaar. I wanted to consume as much fashion-related content as possible, so I started my fashion news Instagram titled This Is Anna’s Fashion. It was originally going to be an account I just watched and never posted, but then I thought: “I have opinions and ideas that I would love to share with the fashion community.” So on July 16, 2021, I created my first post on the Fall 2021 Valentino Haute Couture runway show. My account has slowly grown over the past year, but I know that success does not always happen overnight. It has been a learning experience, though. I have learned how to work with other content creators and have had several wonderful online encounters with designers and companies. Slowly I have found my niche and what works for me so that I do not let posting take over my life. I am in college and have a busy extracurricular life. There are days when I don’t feel like posting or making content, which is ok. Sometimes it’s good for me to take a break and return when I feel inspired. This account is something I am proud of, and it’s something I know will help me be able to accomplish some amazing things in the fashion industry.

We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
I have been extremely blessed in my social media journey. Everyone I have encountered has been supportive and kind with their words. As my account has grown over the past year, there has been much trial and error. But if a post or a TikTok doesn’t do as well as I thought it would, I adjust my approach on my next post to improve and grow. Thankfully, I have not had a super bumpy road; for the most part, it has been smooth sailing.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am the owner and creator of @thisisannasfashion on Instagram, TikTok, and Pinterest. I post several times a week about what is happening in fashion. I mostly post runway, red carpet, and luxury house content. I am now starting to take my photos for fashion content as well. Recently I was in Nashville at the Johnny Cash Museum and posted on the fashion presented there. I also made original content on my nine-day trip to New York City, highlighting the MET, The Brooklyn Museum, and the FITT student exhibition. I am most proud of the growth over the past year. I keep a list of every milestone my account reaches, including verified user likes, follower milestones, and encounters with other creators.

Networking and finding a mentor can have such a positive impact on one’s life and career. Any advice?
I have not had a mentor on my journey, but I do my best to research before I post content to ensure that I include everyone involved in the looks that I post. Sometimes I mess up, don’t include everyone, and have had to correct a post or tag someone I have left out. Thankfully I have been met with kindness and thankfulness by many creators.
