Conversations with Bobbi Dixon

Today we’d like to introduce you to Bobbi Dixon. 

Hi Bobbi, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself
As a lifelong country fan living in a big city, I was spoiled to go to many concerts in my life. Country music has always been there for me since I was little, it’s always been a part of my life but it wasn’t until August 2020 that it became a big part of my life. 

In the middle of a global pandemic and the lack of live music I was feeling helpless sad and just missed being with Music. I started Backstage Bobbi Instagram page to help share my love of country music and that it doesn’t fact live in my home city of Chicago! 

Over the next few months, I started diving deep into stories of up-and-coming artists and sharing them over Instagram live! And that’s where things really took off! My love of learning about artists and their music and why they love country music truly became my passion. Because of that, I was picked up by all country news and I am now the host of the country Confidential podcast where we share The untold stories of some of your favorite country music artists! 

Thankfully as restrictions were lifted in Chicago, I’ve been able to now enjoy live music as well as meet a lot of my country music heroes in person! 

The moral of the story is follow your passion! Do it with a whole heart, and don’t be afraid to ask for help 

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Trying to start a new business in the middle of a pandemic can be difficult! Trying to navigate social media, building a brand, and following your heart can be tricky! But one thing my dad has always taught me is don’t be afraid to ask for help and don’t be afraid to fail! 

Backstage Bobbi was built on a lot of trial and error! But at the end of the day sharing things that I love and then I’m passion about really have changed the game 

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
When people think of country music they don’t think of Chicago! My goal with backstage Bobby is to create a community for country music lovers in Chicago as well as showcase the artists that come through the city! 

I’ve always been a big talker but never thought of myself as a journalist or interviewer! It wasn’t until I started interviewing people that I really found a knack for it! Because of this, I was asked to be the host of the all-country news country Confidential which Is my proudest achievement today! Being a host has allowed me to talk with some of today’s biggest country stars as well as cover their concerts here in Chicago 

While I don’t like to brag, I feel like my interview style is much more of a conversation than some questions! I feel like I have the opportunity to put country artist at ease and talk to them as an equal! I have found that using this approach allows for a much smoother and more enjoyable interview 

What were you like growing up?
Growing up in a tight-knit family I have many fond memories around music! There was always some sort of music in my house whether it was prince because of my mom or talking heads because of my dad! With a wide variety of interests from dogs to horseback riding to art, one thing remain the same music! Music has always had this ability to call me and settle me as well as center me!
