Conversations with Chad Partee

Today we’d like to introduce you to Chad Partee.

Hi Chad, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I’m originally from Memphis, Tennessee, and I moved to Murfreesboro to attend Middle Tennessee State University, where I studied film and video production. While at MTSU, I met some incredibly talented and inspiring people who helped shape my creative path. Because I often needed someone to be on camera for my projects—and didn’t always have access to actors—I ended up acting in a lot of my own work. That hands-on experience sparked my interest in acting, which I’ve continued to pursue ever since.

After graduating, I decided to stay in the area and eventually made my way to Nashville. More recently, I started making music as a way to combine my creative vision with the technical skills I picked up through filmmaking. I just released my second album, Project Blue Book, which has been a huge step forward in my artistic journey.

I’ve always believed in embracing the culture around me—“When in Rome, do what the Romans do.” Lately, that’s meant learning how to play the guitar and picking up my first pair of exotic boots. It’s all part of growing as an artist and connecting more deeply with the creative spirit of Nashville.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. After graduating college with a degree in film, I quickly realized how difficult it can be to break into the industry—especially being young and trying to navigate a space that’s often based on connections and experience. There were times I questioned my path and felt overlooked, but those challenges pushed me to find new ways to express myself. That’s when I started making music—not just as a creative outlet, but as a way to document the highs and lows of my journey. It’s become both a therapy and a voice for the parts of my story that haven’t been seen yet.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I’m a filmmaker, actor, and recording artist based in Nashville. I’m most known for my acting work in my original short series Goodieman, which opened the door for networking with other creatives in the city and helped me gain recognition in the local scene. My foundation is in film—I earned my degree from MTSU with a focus on film and video production—so storytelling has always been at the core of everything I do.

While film is my specialty, I’m most proud of the strides I’ve made in music. One day I simply asked myself, “Why not make a song?” That question sparked something. I went on to write and release my first album Enuma Elish, and just three months later, dropped my second project Project Blue Book. Both bodies of work represent my growth, experimentation, and a deeper dive into self-expression. What sets me apart is my ability to blend cinematic storytelling with music, creating worlds that reflect not just who I am, but who I’m becoming.

How do you define success?
“Success is the progressive realization of a worthy ideal.”

I believe success is striving toward your goals… like Starlito said, “You can’t fail until you quit”
