Hi Chiara, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstories with our readers?
Tropea Tans started when I was stressed out of my mind, frustrated with the products on the market, and sick of walking into salons where I felt like I was being looked at up and down. Being the daughter of immigrant parents from Italy I was taught to work hard, go after what I want, and if I can’t find a way, create one.
I wanted to create a company that radiated positive energy and focused on the use of natural, chemical-free products. At Tropea Tans, we only use products safe for all skin types, especially super sensitive skin! What many don’t realize is that when we are stressed out, our allergies heighten.
My skin always reacted negatively to products, even going into anaphylactic shock! That is when I did my research, put myself at risk, and found a manufacturer that only produced organic products. I can proudly say Tropea Tans is a safe place for all!
Positive energy is so important to me, I can feel energy a mile away and I love it when I naturally vibe with people. Creating a judge-free and welcoming setting was huge for me! It’s important to me that Tropea Tans is known for our genuine care and love for our clients and that is why I only work with employees and vendors that have the same views in mind.
We love making people feel they’re absolutely beautiful inside and out!
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Our biggest struggle was getting through COVID.
Being that we are bridal spray tan specialists, waiting for weddings to be “normal” again without limited venue capacities or pushed back wedding dates was extremely difficult. Trying to convince a bride that her wedding day is special and just as important now as it was before the world shut down was so hard and extremely upsetting.
Our brides just wanted to “get their wedding day over with” and it was our job to support them and remind them of why they were so excited to plan a wedding, to begin with.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am an airbrush spray tan artist that specializes in bridal and maternity. We are most known for making our brides look absolutely flawless with our natural-looking spray tans.
We customize our solutions based on our clients’ skin tone, complexion, and desired shade. We educate each client on how to prep, maintain, and have a long-lasting spray tan. We are known to have the longest-lasting spray tan in New York (10+ days)!
We have had clients travel from New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Ohio, Tennessee, North Carolina, Florida, and Michigan to receive a Tropea Tans spray tan. I am most proud of being recognized as a company that genuinely cares about its clients.
We love surprises, fun facts, and unexpected stories. Is there something you can share that might surprise us?
I work every day with children ages 3-5 years old diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder as a speech-language pathologist, playing the piano relaxes me, and boxing is my favorite workout.
