Conversations with Chris Cross

Today we’d like to introduce you to Chris Cross.

Hi Chris, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
My name’s Chris Cross, but most people in the industry know me as CEO Chris or Ole Skool. And to the younger generation, I’ve proudly taken on the title of “Unc.” I’m the founder of Exquisite Enterprise a platform I started right in Murfreesboro, Tennessee, about five years ago with one simple goal: to give local artists a real shot at perfecting their craft and being seen.
What started as a local movement has grown into something much bigger. I’ve expanded our reach into Nashville, Chattanooga, Kentucky, and even as far as Baltimore — always taking local talent with me. I don’t just book artists for shows. I show up for them in real life — whether that means being in the courtroom with them, being a sounding board when things get tough, or even pulling up with baby shower gifts. It’s all about being solid, being present, and being more than just a promoter.
Every artist that hits our stage is hand-picked. I take the time to listen to their work, watch how they move on social media, and make sure they align with what we’re building. It’s not just about who’s hot — it’s about who’s hungry, who’s growing, and who’s ready to level up.
Exquisite Enterprise turns five this July, and we’ve grown a lot — now hosting not just music showcases, but comedy events, vendor expos, and mixed entertainment nights that bring all kinds of talent under one roof. At the heart of it, though, the mission is still the same: create opportunities, provide real industry resources, and help artists navigate this game the right way — with integrity, knowledge, and a vision for something greater.
So yeah, that’s me in a nutshell — CEO Chris (ole skool)Always working, always building, and always pushing the culture forward.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
My biggest obstacle as being a creative I feel for me is other creatives copying my format. I’ve just learned to try and stay one step ahead of the game.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I’m actually a robotics tech at Rich products corp. I’ve been on this job for over 30 years. Im at a point in my life where I’m able and also to retire from my career and go invest into the music industry full-time. I feel that what separates me from others is when it comes to my events I actually care about the artist. I’m proud to say I’ve built a relationship with a lot of them.

What quality or characteristic do you feel is most important to your success?
Honesty
The building of relationships
Being able to relate to the youth
Being humble
