Today we’d like to introduce you to Cody Murphy.

Hi Cody, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to introduce yourself.
I’ve always loved broadcast radio, so that’s probably partly why I started the podcast. A few years ago, perhaps around 2011, I had several friends who hosted their podcasts, and I would call into their shows to talk with them and their guests. After a few months of this, I thought to myself, “You know what? If they can do this, I can do this, too”. So on August 20th, 2012, Weekdays with Murph was born.

Can you talk to us about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Honestly, it’s been more smooth than I initially thought. Sure, there have been bumps in the road, like anything else you put your heart and soul into, but it’s been pretty smooth. Let’s hope it stays that way. If I had to point to some struggles, it would be finding my place in the country music and podcast industries. After 10 years of this, I’ve found my groove and where I belong.

Please tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others.
In my case, I specialize in interviewing up-and-coming artists in country music, but we’ve recently branched out to include all genres in Nashville because, let’s face it. However, it is the country music capital of the world; not just country music is being made in Nashville. What I’m most proud of about the podcast is that it’s not about me; it has never been and never will be. It’s about shining a little light on some incredibly talented folks flying under the radar and lifting them.

Let’s end by discussing what matters most to you and why.
Regarding the podcast, what matters to me is seeing other people succeed. I always tell my guests that I’ll be their biggest champion if I care about them and their actions. The reason is that I love the country music industry with every fiber of my being and want to see it continue to survive and thrive.
