Conversations with Cody Purvis

Today we’d like to introduce you to Cody Purvis.

Hi Cody, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
When I was a young boy my mom and dad both played in country music bands locally in Virginia. It was immediately that I realized what I wanted to do. I wanted to entertain. I wanted to sing. I wanted to do what my parents did.

After moving to Nashville straight out of high school, I signed with my first booking agency, penned a deal with my first manager (Erv Woolsey, George Strait’s manager), appeared on Real Country (USA Network), landed a top 50 single, “Drinkin’ Terms”, on the Billboard country charts, and racked nearly 10 million streams.

Now, I am working on a brand new project, lots of new music, and created a weekly showcase/concert series in Nashville titled “Nashville’s Most Wanted” that has featured acts such as Dillon Carmichael, Marty Raybon (Shenandoah), Jimmy Fortune (The Statler Brothers), Craig Campbell, Love and Theft, Trey Lewis, James Otto, Keith Anderson, etc. As well as many up-and-coming country artists and hit songwriters.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle-free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
I struggled with addiction to alcohol as many people in the music industry do, and I chose to check myself into a rehab center. It opened my eyes to what’s important. Health, happiness, God, family, friends, and music. It truly saved my life and my career.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am an entertainer. Being on stage is where I feel most at home out of any place in the world. Putting smiles on people’s faces and making them feel as if they’ve left their troubles at home, for even just a couple hours, by attending one of my shows means the world to me and is what keeps me going.

What sort of changes are you expecting over the next 5-10 years?
The sky is the limit. I’m going to keep putting out what I feel is my best work, independently, in hopes that a label sees what I see in my music. That’s hard work, dedication, and love.
