Today we’d like to introduce you to Conway C..
Hi Conway, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
My story starts with Covid. I was an established celebrity hairdresser and makeup artist in Newport Beach, California, specializing in blonding and hair extensions. I was traveling each month by myself to different countries, then in March I was flown out of Spain as the pandemic hit. My clientele was leaving California and I was offered an opportunity to broker private jets. I came to Nashville because of country music and fell in love with it being normal here so I kept flying back and forth and eventually settled on having a second home here. While being here I have met so many amazing people and created a podcast with two of my girl friends called 5th And Broads and spilling the tea on Nashville, stepped back into doing hair and building a clientele here, as well as launching a new brand One Toke.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
Nashville is a culture shock from California. I love it because it’s normal here and people have similar values to me, but it is a very small town and at times it feels like i’m in a time machine going back to 2015 with trends. It has been a journey figuring out who my tribe is but the adventure is part of the fun.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I am an entrepreneur at heart. I have been doing hair for over 10 years, working with celebrities and created my Conway Grooming brand and style of doing hair color and extensions that is easy, low maintenance; California blonde. Life can be hard but I believe your hair doesn’t have to be.
It’s hard for me to sit still so I decided to launch a new brand; @OneTokeTHC as well as launch a Nashville Podcast with my two best girl friends who are also transplants in Nashville and share our advice and experiences in Nashville @5thandBroadsNashville
Do you have any advice for those looking to network or find a mentor?
Never take advice from someone you wouldn’t trade lives with. Focus on self-care first. Workout, meditate, eat right, sleep, drink water, listen to podcasts that focus on business building and positive mindset. Also surround yourself with people that are smarter than you and push you to level up. how you do one thing is how you will do everything.
