Today we’d like to introduce you to Courtney McCullough.
Hi Courtney, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today.
OMG, hi!! I’m glad to share! I like to call myself a multi-passionate entrepreneur. Growing up, my mother was a news reporter, my father was a comedian, and my step-father played professional football. I didn’t grow up with parents who worked your traditional 9-5, at least not during my lifetime.
However, they instilled in me, the importance of working hard, being responsible/paying your bills, but also doing what you love. One of my favorite quotes is that if you “do what you love, you’ll never work a day in your life.” I’m on a quest to TRULY do what I love every day I’m blessed to open my eyes in the morning. When what you do every day fuels your soul, it doesn’t quite feel like work anymore.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I believe everyone is born with a dream, or the desire to do XYZ. The reality is that oftentimes, we put those aspirations on the back-burner, simply because we’ve got bills to pay! Lol hello!! I used to want to be a singer/songwriter. If I were to do it now, it would just be for fun. So, having to accept that fact and get a normal job at 16 wasn’t the most exciting realization. I am a 33-year-old REALTOR, skincare consultant, commercial actor, and abstract artist, who still works full-time in the world of Dentistry.
I’m a full-time wife and mother to two incredible boys. I like to think I made the mature decision to say no to things I wanted to do early on, in order to live a real adult life. But I’m happy! Everything I’ve done and everything I do helps people. So, I guess you can say it’s been a smooth road. I wear several hats, so I’m becoming a better manager of time. The plan is to have complete time & financial freedom to spend the most time possible with the ones who have my HEART! My family.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
So, I’m a visual artist. I LOVE to paint! Finding time can be tricky, so I have to be intentional about it. When I do make the time… I can’t even describe the feeling. Being able to have an idea in mind and literally bring it to life. It’s basically magical. I tend to work with acrylics.
I’m obsessed with pouring and fluid art. Nothing excites me more than hearing what people see when they look at my work; the objects and stories that unfold from their perspectives. I’d love to have my pieces in hotels, restaurants, and homes all around the country.
Any big plans?
The biggest thing right now is that I take all the things I do, to the next level, while being present, and still managing to take care of ME! Self-care is essential.
I’m excited to help those with the desire of homeownership in the near future, become homeowners. After years of my husband encouraging me to get my real estate license, I DID! So I’m super excited to flourish in that space. Shout out to Zaddy!!
