Conversations with David Ryan Wynne

Today we’d like to introduce you to David Ryan Wynne.

Hi David Ryan, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
Some people see me as a singer but I see my myself more of a people encourager. Over the years I’ve always enjoyed singing as a kid, as a teenager, and into my adult life. For so many years I thought music was my passion but in 2018 something happened. It all came together and through a series of life events and with the help of a friend, Reviving Dayvid was born. This was when I realized that “people” are my passion, not just the music. The music is the conduit that connects me to the people. The main recurring theme of the Reviving Dayvid movement is “Purpose. Passion. People”. In this life we’ve all been through something. We’ve all encountered the storms of life. Learning how to dance in the rain allows us to grow as individuals. Sure it is easy to give up, but the growth is in the journey. It is in our very human nature to consume ourselves with the finish line, but we must not forget to enjoy the journey itself.

As a singer/songwriter and founder of Reviving Dayvid, I David Ryan Wynne have learned to use what I’ve been given not just for musical purposes, but to influence the lives of others like me who have been through something. When you’re broken, your parents go through a divorce, and you go through your own divorce, you lose friends to mental illness, these life events change you. You see just how truly precious the gift of life is. Every moment of human interaction from 5 hours at a family outing to 5 seconds on an elevator with a perfect stranger, is an opportunity to love others. Conversations don’t always have to last long. A gift such as a smile can make a permanent impression on someone having a bad day.

The band name Reviving Dayvid comes from the word REVIVE, which means to bring back to life. We have often been through something so tough that our souls, minds, and hearts need to be revived. The word DAYVID comes from my legal first name combined with the word DAY. David is a traditional spelling, but DAYVID has the word “day” in it. For some people, every day can be a struggle to find their purpose in this life. The real-life experiencess we have all been through allow us to be shaped into who we are today.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle-free, but so far would you say the journey has been fairly smooth?
No not necessarily. Personally I’ve been through my parents divorce, personal divorce, cousin murdered in another state, best friend losing his life to mental illness, death of the mother, a brother with a life-long chemical addiction, personal fear of rejection, stage fright, and anxiety. I can say that throughout these life altering moments I never gave up on “me”. I believe that how you see yourself and your own level of self respect is closely tied to the healing process which ultimately leads us to becoming STRONGER.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
More than just a musician I see myself as a person who wants to connect with people on a different level. Sure as a Singer/Songwriter and instrumentalist, of course I enjoy playing music. Honestly it’s really so much more than that. The Nashville experience recording my Reviving Dayvid – 12 Song Album – “Opened Up” – Songs about real-life experiences, has a main objective of PURPOSE – PASSION -PEOPLE was certainly a game changer. The entire process from the thought of the project name to the album cover takes the focus away from me as a person and allows for the message of the music to shine through.

What do you think about happiness?
Happiness is connecting with others, talking to them, saying hello, and sharing a free smile. These moments happen inside of music of course, but often it is the outside of musical moments that are so very special to talk about life experiences with others. Hearing other people’s stories, what they have been through, and where they are headed is so very special to me.
