Conversations with Evan Carr and Preston Eggert

Today we’d like to introduce you to Evan Carr and Preston Eggert.

Hi Evan and Preston, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers.
We were both born and raised in Dallas, TX. We grew up only 5 miles apart, but it wasn’t until high school that we met and became close friends. Even back then, most of our time was spent writing, recording, and mixing our own original songs. We worked together, but separately, up until we moved to Nashville, TN. together!

Preston’s focus was split between music and finishing up his senior year at Belmont University post-covid, and Evan was hell-on-wheels with a full head of steam ready to pursue a music career. It didn’t take long for us to start performing together in Nashville, and by the time we signed our first record deal, “this2” was official!

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
We’ve definitely faced our fair share of roadblocks along the way, but that’s life. We’re thankful for every bump along the way because they’ve shaped us to be the people we are.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
One of the many things that separates us from other artists is our use of harmonies to tell a story.

We don’t consider one or the other as the “lead singer of this2”, instead we both have unique melodies that blend in entirely different ways throughout each song. The voice that we create by blending our own individual voices together is the voice of “this2”.

We love surprises, fun facts, and unexpected stories. Is there something you can share that might surprise us?
Preston has a BFA in Motion Pictures, which is constantly being utilized for our content, and Evan fought/trained in competitive Mixed Martial Arts at Fortis MMA prior to moving to Nashville.
