Today we’d like to introduce you to Friendstore

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
Thomas and I (Austin) have been friends for around 10 years. We met working at a coffee shop and enjoyed sharing bands we were both into. In 2021 we were looking to start a creative project together, eventually deciding to start a band. We’ve been writing/recording/playing for the past 3-4 years and seeing our music take off with a niche group of vibey weirdos who love what we do. We love them too.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The road to going full time in music, while living in Music City, is a bumpy one for sure. You might as well say your goal is winning the lottery. That said, creating is something we’d be doing even if it wasn’t a career goal. It feeds us both. Helps us process. Trying to get our music out there is definitely a grind, but we wouldn’t have it any other way.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
Our music combines elements of psyche rock, funk, disco, and 80’s new wave. It’s highly experimental, designed to make you do that puppy head tilt thing they do whenever they hear a new sound. We’re just trying to have fun, make some good music, and scratch an itch in people’s brain.

If you had to, what characteristic of yours would you give the most credit to?
Ultimately Thomas and I are just two best friends hanging out weekly doing what we love. We’re both all in on the idea of doing this full time, so we share all the weight of writing/recording/producing/mastering/marketing/ and design. We’re just gritty with it. Always hustling. I think all of that combines for an appealing package that resonates with people… plus we’re really cute.
