Today we’d like to introduce you to Hallie Long.
Hallie, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Yain’t Wrong Apparel was originally established while designing merchandise for my music brand under Hallie Long. I was just honestly in conversation and I said “Yain’t Wrong”, like I normally would. As soon as I spoke that our designer lit up with an idea and asked if he could put that on a shirt and see how I liked it. So he took that idea, and I figured it would look great since it already felt like a lifestyle to me. A few days later I received the logo in an email that was batched together with all the other merchandise ideas, and I knew as soon as I saw it. I knew it was bigger than just a T-shirt. This had the potential to be a full-on brand.
A brand for the blue-collar, a brand for the ones who were just like me, and mostly a brand that represented just having fun and just embracing redneckery at its finest. Our goals as a brand are to grow into something that would allow people to feel safe, seen, and understood. We made it a point to always try and give back to someone in need in any way we could, whether it be sharing their music or helping them raise money or a cause. We hope to one-day sponsor Rodeos, concerts, festival events, Fishermen, etc.
We have currently one music artist & one bull rider that we sponsor including me.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Starting a business always has its “bumps in the road”. You’re always faced with obstacles in this business like material prices and consumer pricing.
As things became more expensive we’ve had to make a few changes to the fabric choices but make sure that we don’t compromise the integrity of the merchandise. Aside from the public acceptance has been great and we feel as though we are building a good thing all around.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
Aside from owning and operating “Yain’t Wrong” and the company as a whole. I am a full-time country music artist and owner of Wild Gypsy Entertainment and a full-time mom. I’ve always had an outwardly creative urge to create and expand ideas, and so that has developed into being what most call an entrepreneur.
WGE is a company I developed to help myself as well as any other artist that we come into contact with on their journey to where they want to be. Whether that is booking, media content creation, management, etc. As I’ve grown to develop new things and work in many different realms of companies. I would say that I’m most proud of the ability to help others see their true potential.
In seeing this happen more and more over time it became a joy and in turn, I feel like that is what sets me apart.
There’s no greater accomplishment to me than opening someone’s eyes to their truth and shedding light to help them feel comfortable and power full in that.
Can you talk to us about how you think about risk?
“A life without risks isn’t a life, it’s an existence” is a statement that I’ve always lived by in my personal and business life. Risks are the way we grow, learn, and successfully accomplish goals. taking risks has taught me to learn from failures that lead better to success.
Leaving my hometown at 19 and traveling to live in Nashville, TN, alone for many years was a risk that changed it all for me. Other risks came while raising a child as a single mother and continuing to play music and build companies.
Putting musical ideas out there and sending songs into the world to create their existence. There was always a sense of instability and concern that could have scared me back into working for someone else, but I never dreamed of that so I never wanted to jeopardize the future of what my company could have been.
Looking back and hoping you could or would have done something different is never the way I’d hope to live, and with VAINT WRONG I believe that we’re creating a fun and free-spirited workplace and a brand for others who are the same way!
