Today we’d like to introduce you to Hannah Potts.
Hi Hannah, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
Originally from Central California, my interior design journey began at Cal Poly, where an early focus on architecture evolved into a passion for interior design. During my studies, I worked alongside established designers in Southern California, gaining invaluable on-site experience in both high-end renovations and new construction projects.
Throughout this time, I began taking my own clients, collaborating directly with homeowners and contractors while refining my skills in 2D and 3D renderings to bring each vision to life.
In 2020, God opened a door for my husband and I to relocate to Tennessee. Three years later, we welcomed our first child, along with the launch of our design firm, The Catalyst Interiors.
Since our move to Tennessee, I have had the privilege to work with many homeowners designing their custom homes throughout Nashville and beyond state lines. I wholeheartedly believe in the value of connection, craftsmanship, and authenticity.
My favorite part of my work is connecting with my clients and getting to know their stories. It is important to me that my clients are fully represented in the work that we create together.
It’s that intentional spirit, paired with a supportive family, faith, and a commitment to excellence that continues to shape The Catalyst Interiors.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
We visited Tennessee for the first time in March of 2020. We had no idea that a month later, we would pack up and start a fresh chapter, leaving everything we knew behind. It took a lot of faith, grit and trust to go through that and get settled into Tennessee without family and many friends around. Part of this was leaving my trusted contractors and clients behind and starting from scratch here in Tennessee. These last five years have thankfully brought me many strong connections partnering with great tradesmen and repeat clients. I primarily work off of referrals which is a huge blessing, but also a testament to our work and that of the men and women we partner with.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I believe effective design begins with a unique purpose. “Aging in place” has been an important part of my work over the years. Where designing or redesigning an interior can be truly life changing for a homeowner. From health and wellness to functionality. Remodeling a home can allow a client to stay in the space where they built a lifetime of family memories, while also providing a fresh start toward a new way of life. I really enjoy the problem-solving aspect of design, seeking innovation and efficiency are priorities. I would say I am most proud of the lives I have impacted in designing a functional space.
What was your favorite childhood memory?
Quality time spent with my family. One memory in particular comes to mind. Although I don’t ride horses these days – my mother loved it dearly and it was very much part of my childhood. My mother, sister and I would ride our horses on a nearby property where we navigated through loose cattle, a river, barbed wire, very tall grass and large hills. Both the thrill of the adventure and serenity on those rides are what come to the forefront of my memory.
