Today we’d like to introduce you to Hunter Jordan.
Hi Hunter, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I grew up in Mercer, TN with a population of 600 people. I was a late bloomer with music. I didn’t sing in front of anyone until college. The first show of my life I was thrown to the wolves, lol. I played in front of 500 people opening for Dylan Scott at the University of Tennessee-Martin where I attended college at the time. I instantly knew from the rush I got when I hit that stage that I wanted to pursue music. I just didn’t know how to go about pursuing it.
I moved home after graduation and formed the band Backroad Therapy. with some friends from high school. We played together a couple of years before I ventured out on my own for my solo project. I hit a lot of speed bumps along the way from breakups, to the passing of loved ones, and a battle with alcoholism that helped shape who I am and make me very appreciative of the doors that God has opened for me.
I’m currently living in Nashville, writing music and hitting the road on the weekends playing gigs. I’m releasing a higher volume of music and playing more shows than I ever have in my life. It wears me out sometimes, but I wouldn’t trade it for the world. I’m living my dream and I can’t wait to see where my road leads.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Definitely not. Through breakups, momma getting cancer (WHICH SHE BEAT!), losing my grandpaw, and a stunt where I battled alcoholic tendencies, I definitely lost my way for a time. When I leaned on God and not my own understanding, I really started seeing a positive change in my life. I’m happy and truly blessed with the opportunities I’ve been given.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I’m a singer/songwriter. I’m most proud of the moments when someone tells me that a song of mine speaks to them. It connects us on a deeper level because we’ve been through the same things in life. Moments like those are really special to me.
How do you define success?
Life is hoping for the best, being prepared for the worst, and knowing that things will happen that are out of your control. Making the right moves and learning from your mistakes.
Success is knowing that no matter what happens in life, you’re going to enjoy every single moment of it along the way.
