Conversations with Ira Rockett

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ira Rockett.

Hi Ira, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
My name is Ira Rockett aka RockRackz. Born in East St Louis, Illinois by way of Madison, “Trojan Country”. Childhood consisted of dancing, acting, and playing sports, with dreams of one day playing professional sports or being in the entertainment industry. The desire to compete and measure my talents against others in the community was always there. That desire developed a ferocious work ethic. Growing up in a single parent home was trying and the apparent outcomes of living the “street life” (gangbanging, selling drugs, etc.) was terrifying. So, most of the time was spent playing sports, searching for the greatness within myself.

The next chapter, enlisting in the United States Army at the age of 17, and the fortunate opportunity to retire at the early age of 37. Retirement led to the reconnection to the childhood passion for music and entertainment. So, Erryday Enterntainment LLC was born. Cutting hair was another skill acquired as a child to earn money, which led to acquiring a professional Barber’s License in Louisville, Kentucky. The proceeds from that helped with some small tours but the artists lost their passion. Hence, this caused a financial strain and the company went into a dormant state.

The Barbering profession led directly to Nashville, TN, where the music itch resurfaced again and we launched Errday Entertainment. We researched and hired a team. The biggest lesson learned was that “You Can Not Run A Label By Yourself!” With the team in place, we are active doing promotional touring, branding, sponsorships, recording music, and selling merchandise, All of RockRackz music is available on all digital platforms.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
No, it has definitely NOT been smooth. When EDE first started, I was wearing all of the hats. Again, lesson learned, “You Can Not Run A Label By Yourself!” No one is the expert in every position, just look at the successful companies. The right people in the right positions, After hiring the right people, things began to run much smoother. Also, the biggest challenge thus far, has been funding. As an independent company, most banks do not want to invest in a new startup company. So, networking and branding has put the company in position to start flourishing.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am the founder and Chairman of the Erryday Entertainment Company based in Music City. Specialties include: writing and producing music, directing videos and marketing. The sound we’re crafting is known as “Trap Disco” which is making music that coincides with erryday people, errywhere. The thing to be most proud of is being able to remain an independent company. What sets us apart from others is the goal to touch the soul by creating good vibes and telling stories of erryday people. Although it is “Rap”, people can relate ranging from ages 16 to 60.

Where do you see things going in the next 5-10 years?
The music industry is undergoing a shift and we are a part of the shift. “Trap Disco” helps with departing from the negative music which society is tired of – such as rapping about killings, drugs and sex. Our music is a part of the process of removing the violent stigma of rap/trap music. Errday Ent is poised for big things.
